I can no longer publish posts nor post a featured image

I can no longer publish posts nor post a featured image. Something happened to where it won’t allow me to publish posts. I’m using the all in one seo plug in and that has stopped working as well. It also says ‘AIOSEO relies on the WordPress Rest API and your site might have it disabled.’ and ever since then things have stopped working for me.

    Same, after upgrading WP

I’m seeing some weird errors since the latest upgrade.

Different default font on Create/Edit post pages and the tabs to the right on the same pages have reset and won’t save when I rearrange them.

  • Hi Folks –

Let’s do this one at a time. First up, @brett6de304becd.

Looking at that site I can see it’s hosted on Bluehost. It’s not using our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com.

For help, I would contact them first. Otherwise, there’s a volunteer network available for folks who run their own WordPress installations, which is how you’re set up. That is available at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

On WordPress.com our team offers a managed hosting environment. This means that we handle all the back end details of the site. Things like back ups, updates, security, spam, seo, ssl, mobile optimization, top notch hosting specs, and sorting out any errors or bugs that pop up along the way. When you run a stand alone WordPress installation, like what y’all have set up, then all of those details fall on to you – so instead of being able to focus on content you spend a ton of time and frustration fixing these sort of issues.

All of our hosting plans are available on https://wordpress.com/pricing/ If you think a managed environment is a better setup for the project and your experience level then we can talk more about how to move your site over and what’s involved with that process.

Next up, @fireandtravel. I believe you are also running your own WordPress installation because on WordPress.com our team handles back ups and you wouldn’t need to be doing that on your own. You’ll want to follow the advice above, but insert whoever is hosting your site.

Last one, @cinetvstream1138. What’s your site URL? Happy to take a closer look but folks rarely see errors or have down time issues on WordPress.com. I’m guessing you are also self hosted.

A managed environment will allow y’all to invest time in your business and projects instead of chasing down errors and issues. If you’d like to move your site that can happen for $4/month on the personal plan. Please write back with more questions. We stay close by and are happy to answer those. Be well.

I was able to resolve this by simply clearing my browser of all data related to my site.

    Not self-hosted, wordpress.com hosted (Business)

The error is on the backend, not front-facing.

  • @cinetvstream1138 ah, sorry we missed that. Would you mind sending more details about what you’re seeing, possibly in a separate thread?

Your plan comes with direct support, too, if you’d prefer to reach out by chat:

Hi supernovia, I contacted chat support after I had responded to this post and was told

“Back-end discrepancies are usually caused by an extension in your browser or due to caching issues. I’ll recommend opening this in a different browser to make sure it looks right. With that being said, as long as the issue is not being reflected on the main site, it’s also safe to ignore :)”

    and

“Happy to help! And you have a keen eye to catch that :)”

So, I don’t think there’s anything I can do about the default font changing to Georgia.
