I can not add captions to Images in the Editor

Hi, I am writing a new post and I can not add any captions to the images I upload. The space under the image that used to appear is no longer there. When I open an old post in Editor mode, I see no captions, still these continue to be present in the Reader mode. Could you please help me? Thank you

Hi there,
The captions are there, but in the editor they’re being displayed as white text on the white background. That’s why you can’t see them.
This is a bug, and it has already been reported to the folks over on WordPress.org who make the editor. Once it’s fixed on that end, we’ll also be able to update the editor on ours, but I’m not able to tell you how long that might take.
