I can not change the colour of my title text. This is ridiculous.
-
Why the hell is there no button to change my header text colour, as it claims there is supposed to be?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-colors/#header-text-color
This is ridiculous. All I want to do is change the colour of my blog’s title text. There is nothing that lets me do that in the “site title” tab. This is all such a huge waste of time. I’m tempted to go back to Blogger and make a site there, it’s trivial and free to change the colour of the title. What’s the problem, WordPress? You are NOT being very impressive. Can anyone tell me why this is so difficult? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Sure, but will you calm down first? The forums are staffed by volunteers who didn’t build this software, and it’s easier for us to answer the hundreds of questions we get daily if people are somewhat less accusatory.
Which Site Title tab are you looking at? The one in the customizer? What do you see there? What options does it give you?
Also, do you have Adblocker software running? Some people are reporting that right now it is interfering with the buttons at WordPress.com. Try disabling it just long enough to reload that one page, then see if that fixes it. If so, make the change you want and then re-enable it.
-
Hi Raincoaster, yes that is correct, I am looking in the customizer, though the page I linked to above says it should be available for free. I am using the Suits theme, and yes I have adblock plus running on firefox 27.0.1.
I have shut off adblock. Still nothing. I have tried opening my account on Safari, same result. Nothing. No button to change the colour of my title, anywhere. Could it be the fault of the Suits theme?
Honestly, this makes me not want to use WordPress at all. Such a huge waste of time. I would happily throw money at this company, but I can’t even contact an actual company representative? They leave their customer relations to volunteers?? I searched high and low for a way to contact the company, and I see none. All I get is a forum post. This is not merely bad customer service, it is utterly absent customer service.
Thanks for trying to help, but I wonder why anyone would volunteer to pad the profit margin of private corporation? Even lousy companies can afford to outsource customer relations to India. WordPress has shameful customer service.

I am using FF27, IE 11 and Chrome 32
I went to > Dashboard > Appearance > Header
scrolled down to:
Header Text
__Show header text with your image.
Text Color
and used the color selector and then clicked “save”.Easy peasy.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

4. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
5. Try using another browser.
6. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(c) Exactly what you experience including what any error reports you receive state. -
Hi Timethief, thanks for that helpful post!
I’m running the most up to date version of firefox on mac. Frankly if it is a browser problem then WordPress is broken and I am not interested in any software that is broken on Firefox. I will drop WordPress long before I consider change browsers.” I went to > Dashboard > Appearance > Header
scrolled down to:
Header Text
__Show header text with your image.
Text Color
and used the color selector and then clicked “save”.I’m at Dashboard > Appearances in the left margin menu. There is nothing that shows any options listed as “Header.”
The only place I can find “Header” is by going into the Suits theme through customize, then on the right there is a Header button. All that gives me is the ability to change the header image, but there is absolutely nothing to do with the text or the colour, as indicated in the link I posted above. I have surfed everywhere on the far side of the “Customize” button of the Suits theme and nothing gives a button that allows me to change the title colour. There is a tab called “Site Title” but all it lets me do is change the text copy for my title and sub-header, not change the colour.
I have cleared cache, and most of your other number points do not apply to me. I tried activating HTTPS but the directions on the link you gave made no sense at all. There is no user drop down menu anywhere, and I could find nothing anywhere called “Personal Settings.”
I am on a macbook pro running OSX 10.8.5, using firefox 27.0.1. All plugins are off as best as I can tell.
I have used blogger for many years and have many websites there. I am trying WordPress out for the first time to compare the two, and I am disgusted with how difficult such a basic thing as changing the colour of my title has become. I have not made any progress on this new site in two days. I could have built my entire site on Blogger in that amount of time. What a waste of time.
Thanks for your help. I hope you are being paid!!

Found Personal Settings > HTTPS is on. Still no ability to select blog title colour. Started whole new blog with whole new URL from scratch. Still can’t select title colour. Only way I have been able to change title colour is if the theme colour pallet changes the title colour. Most don’t, including Suits. This is truly ridiculous.
-
I am using the Suits theme on my new blog and the change colour button works just fine. You click on it. Then up pops a box with all kinds of different colour options. Then you select whatever you want.
Disable adblocker, log out, clear browser cache and cookies, and log back in. You should see it then, a button that actually looks more like a tickbox. Click on it.
-
Done. Nothing. No change.
Where exactly did you go?
Dashboard > Appearance > Themes > Suits > Customize > I get here and there is nothing in either the “Site Title” or “Header” tab that allows me to change text colour. -
Dashboard->Appearance->Customize->Colors. And right at the bottom is the
Header Text Color.I swear to god, staff have changed it since yesterday.
-
-
Have now tried on 3 computers.
Windows xp running firefox and ip.
Osx running firefox.
Osx running chrome. Two different blogs, different url, different themes.
All nothing. At what point do i decide this is absurd, delete wordpress accounts and go back to blogger???
-
Seriously. All i want is my title to be burgundy. If wordpress cant manage that trick that was mastered elsewhere in the 80s then wordpress is utter garbage.
-
Just go to Appearance > Headers. Scroll down and you’ll see Header Text and Text Color. That will change your the colour of your header title (i.e. your blog name).
-
Thank you for the attempt, unfortunately there is no “Headers” under Appearance for me. The real question is WTF not?!

@solonacademy
Are you in fact logged in as the Admin of the blog under the exact same username account that registered the blog? Sometimes bloggers demote themselves inadvertently and lose access to the full Admin functions.Note that I have tagged this thread for Staff help and subscribe to it so your are notified when they reply.
-
Yes, I just checked that this morning actually. For both blogs I am the only user and listed as administrator.
Both blogs have the same problem, I can not access Header under Appearance. I can access limited parts of the Header through the theme customization page, but limited to just the text copy and the header image, I am not able to adjust the header font, size, or colour. This is the same for both of the themes I have tried, although I *AM* able to modify the Site Title colour through the colour tab of the Greyzed theme, but that appears to be a feature specific to the Greyzed theme by clicking to adjust the colour pallet. Nothing has ever given me the easy options you have described previously. Thanks for your help! I’m now into day 3 of building this website, with no substantive progress since the morning of day 1 when I decided to change the colour of my Header text….
-
What do your mean by both blogs?
Post both of the URLs starting with http:// here please. -
http://solonacademy.wordpress.com
http://thesolonacademy.wordpress.comAs I mentioned earlier, I built a new blog from scratch (adding “the”), different URL, to test if I had perhaps broken something important during my initial bumbling around getting acquainted with the WP interface. Both blogs have the same problem.
Variables that have been isolated:
-different blog URL
-multiple browsers: Firefox, safari, IE, Chrome
-OSX vs. XP
-different themes -
Are both of those blogs registered under the exact same username account?
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
