I can not delete the file premanently, link still works.

  I have uploaded the PDF file.
  I have used the link to this item in my e-mail correspondence.
  Now I want do delete the PDF file permanently.
  I have preformed the appropriate action, I have chosen the option “Delete file permanently”, but the link still works.
  I can still download the file – but I can not see it in my media directory.

  Any idea what to do to truly delete the file permanently?

  How long ago did you delete the file from your WordPress.com Media Library? It normally can take a few days after deleting before WPcom removes it permanently from the onsite cache.

  You might be seeing a cached version. Since deleting the file, have you also deleted your browser cache and/or cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache (Warning, this will sign you out of all sites you may currently be logged into.)
