I can not update my posts on wordpress.com
-
For already a few days I can not update my posts on wordpress.com. Normally you access the html mode via a button at the bottom of the posting: update. That button has been missing for a few days. In addition, if you enter the management module after logging in, the sites and statistics will continue to load, but will no longer appear. The message that is in the upper right corner is: Setting is completed. But that does not happen. Any idea what’s going on? Plus if you get a notification of a response to a posting and you log on to wordpress.com I get the message: you do not have the rights to respond to this posting, please consult the owner …
So if anyone can help me out? My blogs are:

About this:
That button has been missing for a few days.
That means you are not logged into an account that has permission to edit those sites. I have confirmed this account is connected to one site (the one you mentioned here).
Can you log out and log into your other account to see if that helps?

Thanks supernova. This works. I guess it started after I was logged in at Gravatar with an earlier WordPress account… Have a nice day!

Gone as well, Supernova! Which makes it all look like home again.
I was updating my postings, because when I moved these websites from the hosting providers where they lived for almost ten years, some of the images did not transfer to wordpress.com while reading the xml-file.
Now this might not be unusual for a website with more than 1400 postings. Although also at some of the sites with much lesser pages not all the images were transferred either.
Were you guys conscious of this happening sometimes?
Anyway, not a big deal, although It takes some time now to restore the images from category to category. You might ask yourself why I moved all of these sites to wordpress.com? Well… I am 61 now. And you never know how long you live, since 4 years I am a widower, so I know. After that I decided to keep sharing my 10 years work with the world by putting it in a place that might have some more longevity than if it stayed on a private server. Chose the free version as I guess the paid version would stop if payments would not go on after death, for instance.
Well that was it. Glad to be part of the WordPress community.
Best.

When we import, we have to request the images from the host. Occasionally there will be performance issues or the host will block some of our requests for images, so it’s a good idea to check the old and new media libraries to be sure everything made it through. Are the images still available at the old host? And do you know how many you are missing?
One route you can take is to split your XML file into much smaller chunks so as not to overwhelm the old host’s server during import. It takes longer, but depending on how many images are missing, it may be worth it. The caveat is that you’d need to clear the sites here first then re-try the imports. Let us know if you’d like to give that a go.

No problem, its the way it is.
Done the import already some months ago.
After the sites went offline at the other server, I noticed a lot of images are missing. But… I have a backup so its back to the old handiwork. One by one.Thats OK.
Have a nice day up there!

I will.
I might have just one more question, if that is OK with you.
When I started moving all my websites to wordpress.com I deleted the website name which had been there for years https://huubkoch.wordpress.com
Now I wanted to restore it but the system says: you cannot use this name as the owners deleted it.
So I started using https://huubkochnl.wordpress.com and https://huubkochcom.wordpress.com
Is there any way to start using the name https://huubkoch.wordpress.com again?
Thanks for now.
Best regards,
Huub
