I can only see the post, not the usual header, sidebar etc.

As of this morning, when I try to open one of the pages or posts at my blog, it appears correctly for a second, then everything but the actual post disappears. I can’t navigate, or make changes.
I don’t know if others clicking on a link will see the same or not.
I have an urgent need to update some posts, so please help!
I use Safari on a MacBook Pro. With Chrome, I did get the header pic, but nothing else. I still couldn’t access the details of my site, or navigate.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I can see three sites under your account and all of them load correctly on my end. Which of the three is the one not loading correctly?
Also can you please try the following things:
* Clear your browser’s cache
* Force refresh the page
* Log-out from your WordPress.com account and log-in again.
If that doesn’t work then please check your browser settings or use another browser. You can read more about how to troubleshoot your browser issues here:

Thank you for coming to my aid.
The site is https://bobrich18.wordpress.com
I have tried three browsers.
Safari has the problem I described. I’ve emptied history, relaunched the browser several times. Haven’t tried restarting the computer yet. The problem has persisted.
On Chrome, my site comes up OK, with the header pic, links to pages at the top and in the sidebar, but it is as if I were a visitor rather than an administrator. I cannot get in.
On Firefox, everything is perfect.
I’ll now read the page you recommended.
Prefer to stay with Safari as my default browser, if you can help me to make it work. Also, I am at a loss to understand why this happened. It’s a first.
With thanks,
Bob -
I’ve now followed instructions for clearing the Safari cache, and the problem is still there. Sob, sob.
Next, trying to restart the computer.

The site came up on Safari OK for about 2 seconds, then reverted to the unsatisfactory appearance: the actual page taking up part of the screen, no links above or beside it, no way for me to enter as administrator.

Hi Bob,
* Make sure you’re running the latest version of Safari:
* Check if you have any suspicious extensions installed in Safari:

Can you also take a screenshot and upload it to your Media Library so I can better understand the issue? Here’s how to take a screenshot:

My browser is Safari 11, which your link stated is the most recent version.
Thank you for all the trouble you’re taking. I’d like to do something in return.
:)

Hi Bob,
Judging from your screenshot, it looks like you have enabled Reader mode on Safari. To turn it off and view your site normally, click the black button next to your site’s address. Here’s a screenshot of where that button is exactly:
Hope this will resolve your issue :)

Thank you! Well, it’s a good day when you learn something new.
In thanks, I’d like to send you a free copy of one of my books. Please email me bob at bobswriting dot com

Hi Bob,
You’re welcome! I’m really happy that I helped you solve your issue and please don’t feel obligated to give me a gift :)
-
I don’t feel obligated, but will be happy to send you a free book anyway. It’s a Christmas present. :)
There is one more issue. Every time I open a page or post at my blog, it loads correctly, then this reader thing comes on. How can I switch this unwanted feature off?
Thanks,
Bob -
Hi Bob,
To disable Safari to automatically load your site in Reader mode, open Safari’s Preferences > Websites > Reader, find your site and select Off from the drop-down menu.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
