I didn’t try to edit the website or anything from the time that I was charged (August 1st 2021) til now August 31, 2021. I wanted to know if it was possible to get the money that I was charged at the beginning of the month back?

It can not be refunded now as you mentioned the dates, it’s clear that your purchase was made a month ago. Almost every purchase on WordPress.com is refunded within 14 days or less than that.
WordPress.com annual or two-year plans are refundable within 14 days of the purchase.
WordPress.com monthly plan is refundable within 7 days of the purchase.
Domains fees are refundable within 96hours of registration or renewal.To know more about the refund policy of WordPress.com please refer to the link below:

As @shubhamgmath stated above, our refund period for annual paid plans is 14 days. For monthly plans, the refund period is 96 hours, and for monthly plans, it’s 7 days.
I see that the subscription renewal took place on August 1, 2021, so they are completely out of their refund period at this time. If you’d like us to restore the subscriptions, though, we can do that.
Please let us know as soon as possible as your subscription included a domain, and there’s a limited period of time before we can restore a domain without needing additional payment (See more about what happens after a domain is canceled).
