i cancelled my domain, when will it be available again?

  I made an account with wordpress with the domain i wanted, however i didnt realize i can’t run javascript and a few other things i want to run which otherwise i cant with wordpress. I was still within the 48 hour window so i cancelled my domain registration and was refunded. I am wondering whether the domain i registered will remain active for the year still or will it be released?

  Cancelled domains do become available again, but it can take weeks, and there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to register again, as someone else could buy it the moment it becomes available. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/cancel-domain/

  Had you not cancelled it you could simply have transferred it to another host, but now you’ll have to keep checking so you can buy it the moment it becomes available again.

  Many registrars have what they call a drop-catching service where you can basically call dibs on a domain so it is registered for you the moment it becomes available. You might want to try that.
