I cancelled my plan, but my domain is still linked to my old account.

I cancelled my plan and my domain mapping, and now I am trying to map the domain to a different wordpress site, but it is not working because it is still associated with this account. I can’t change it though because I cancelled, so it is locked.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

What’s your domain you mentioned? Telling us your domain name will help us find out the problem.

    Thanks :)

    stanfordpolitics.net

Even though I cancelled my wordpress.com plan, the domain is still associated with my account, and even worse, it is locked to any changes. I want to change that so that I can use the domain with a wordpress.org platform, but right now, if I change the domain in my new wordpress.org account, whenever I go to stanfordpolitics.net/wp-admin, it takes me to my cancelled wordpress.com platform.

  • Hi again,

I investigated your domain: stanfordpolitics.net. As far as I know, the domain was registered in Squarespace, and it’s pointing to Bluehost currently. So it looks like that your domain is not associated with your WordPress account anymore. In this case, you need to ask Squarespace in order to get help about your domain.

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

The domain, stanfordpolitics.net, is not connected to WordPress.com in any way. It stopped being connected to us the moment you cancelled your mapping upgrade yesterday.

It’s also no longer pointed to us, as @hacchism already said. Both the name servers and IP address are pointing to Bluehost, and it’s a Bluehost landing page that loads for me if I type that domain in my browser.

If you’re still being redirected to WordPress.com if you type that domain it’s most likely you’re browser doing it. Please clear your browser cache, and failing that your computer’s DNS cache, and then you should be able to reach the correct site.
