I cannot access my blogs

  • Unknown's avatar

Please can you help me? I cannot access my sites. I have three sites on wordpress and now they’re gone. When I type the address it is written on Firefox : No site configured at this address.
On Google Chrome I can see the site but I cannot login, it is forbidden.

    address:
    http://cristinamonicamoldoveanu.wordpress.com

Plus: I can access the Add New Post page indirectly, only from the main wordpress page, but I cannot access directly my sites.
    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    That does seem strange.

What happens when you click the link below from Firefox?

    http://cristinamonicamoldoveanu.wordpress.com/wp-admin?

Please make sure you are logged into the WordPress.com account you use to edit your sites when you click the link.

My sense is the reason it didn’t work on Chrome is that you weren’t logged in (you have to log in separately for each browser).

I can access the link you gave me from Firefox, but I cannot access my blog! I can add new posts, I can see only the last post added, but I cannot see my other posts or answer to comments. I receive the same answer every time I try to see my blog:

No site configured at this address.

I am sorry that everything I wrote on my blog will be lost.

I am automatically logged into my account on Firefox, but on Google Chrome it is forbidden to log in.

I can see all the posts on your site, so there is no danger of you losing your previous work. Also, since you have some login access, it’s unlikely that you’ve forgotten your password, so that’s good too.

The link I gave you should have taken you to your blog’s dashboard–the “back end” where you add and edit posts and otherwise make changes to your site. It looks something like this:

Do you see something different? If so, could you take a screen shot of what you see? Here are the instructions for doing that: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

if you don’t have access to your media library, you can take the screen shot and then paste it into this tool: http://snag.gy/. It will generate a url you can share in the forum.

Could you send me a screen shot of the screen in Chrome where it says you are “forbidden to log in” as well?

You might also try clearing your cache and cookies. When others have had this problem, that seemed to fix it: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

The OP is no longer able to access the forums. Here’s a screenshot of the error she’s getting.
    http://snag.gy/EwLdR.jpg

If it’s relevant she’s trying to connect from Romania.

It seems like this might resolve itself on its own, but I’ve tagged it for staff assistance in case it’s part of a bigger issue.

  • I’m going to reply here so that if the OP is able to access the forums again, I will see the reply.

But for the moment, it doesn’t sound like there is much that can be done on this end.

    Thanks rootjosh,

In the sprit of keeping all the information in the same place, I’m copying my most recent exchange with the OP here:

OP: Thanks for your concern, you are too kind. I think I have to renounce my wordpress account. although I had 80 followers there, but only a few comments. I wrote only poems and haiku on my main blog. Nevertheless a few people seemed to like them. But I am unemployed and I have a very low income and in the past two months my computer works harder and harder. I cleared cookies and cache in vain. I don’t have the money to buy another one or to disinfect this one, maybe this is the cause. My blogger account still works. If it were possible I would have transferred the wordpress content into blogger but I think I cannot. I still cannot access the forum too.

    My response
I’m sorry to hear it’s been such a problem, and that I haven’t really been able to help you. I don’t have any more ideas about how to get you into your site–although you might try going to a public library or a friends computer (you will have to log into WordPress.com again, so you’ll need your username and password) just to see if it’s really a problem with your computer.

If you would rather go with your original idea, you could send an e-mail to WordPress.com support at this email address: support@wordpress.com

Tell them about the problem and reference this forum post: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/i-cannot-access-my-blogs?replies=7#post-2057831

They might be able to do an export of your content for you so you could have it on your blogger site.

  • There is also this path:

If someone cannot remember the login information for a WordPress.com account, their best bet is to try the account recovery process here:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

My understanding is she has the login information, she just can’t get to the site and is getting this error: http://snag.gy/EwLdR.jpg

If I had to guess based on some of the other problems she’s having her computer has a virus, and she isn’t able to get her computer fixed.

I only recommended the support e-mail not because they would be able to fix her broken computer, but because they might be able to get her a copy of the export file (assuming she could provide the necessary credentials.)

Yeah, that is very difficult to troubleshoot from afar. Frustrating for the user I am sure. But impossible for those of us trying to help.

For sure. Thanks for chiming in. Sorry about getting a bit far down the rabbit hole on that one.

  • Not to worry.

Thank you for trying to help.
