I cannot access my domain to renew, please help.

I recently sent this message:
Don’t know if this will get to anyone who can help, but my wordpress page is showing this message:
Oh no! This domain jimcampbellartworks.com expired 17 days ago! Please contact the owner of this website and ask them to renew the domain. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to view the site at this web address: jimcampbellartworks.wordpress.com.
However when I go to jimcampbellartworks.wordpress.com, I get the same message and cannot view it. Please help. Thanks.
And received this response:

You should be able to Dismiss this message with the “X Dismiss” link in the upper right. It’s a bit hard to see, but I’ve attached a screenshot to illustrate.
You can renew your domain name (or remove it from your account and make your WordPress.com URL the Primary URL) by going to Dashboard -> Store -> Domains. You can read more about domain settings here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/domains-settings/If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
Cheers,

Theme Wrangler | Automattic | WordPress.comHowever this does not work as I don’t see these options and can’t get into the domain to amend the settings. I would like to keep the domain either by using .wordpress.com or by paying to renew but all my subsequent emails have been ignored.
Thanks. -
Hi there,
My apologies, where you will need to go is to your account’s Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades. On this page you will be able to pay for your domain, including the domain redemption “late” fee which is charged directly by the registry and which we have no control over.
-
Thanks for your response, but that’s ridiculous. I couldn’t get in to my account to pay/renew, (I see that since my query I now have the option – but am to be charged an extortionate late fee….) This is absurd; I’m being charged a late fee because I was unable to access my domain to renew – this is plain theft. Please explain yourself, and don’t patronise me with any nonsense about you having no control over it. I responded to you yesterday via email but received no response from you, which seems pretty typical – please respond now.

No response – no surprise there then!!!!
Do WP have no intention of providing any assistance?? -
Good morning,
I apologize for not responding quicker, I was out over the weekend.
During the domain renewal process we attempt to get a hold of you multiple times via email. We also put notices on the front of your page in case the emails go awry in hopes of avoiding instances like this at all costs.
The additional fee is indeed charged by the domain registry and is not one which we are able to do anything about.
If you would prefer not to pay, the domain expiration process can take a while (up to 80 days) but at the end of it the domain will be released back to the general public, at which point anyone may purchase it. If you’d like, you can wait for that and attempt to purchase it yourself then.

Thanks, Hope you had a good weekend.
I didn’t receive any emails; the first I knew of a problem was when a robot type picture appeared with the message I mentioned, however at that point I was unable to access the domain to do anything about tit – if I had been able to do so I would have purchased it there and then. I did point this out already to both you and your colleague but you both seem to have chosen to ignore it.
My point is:
I wanted to renew but could not access the domain to do so.
I asked for help.
When I received your colleague’s answer I responded straight away but had no reply.
When you first answered I was able to access the domain but by that point I was being charged a late fee.
Why should I be charged a late fee when I was unable to access the domain, presumably through a fault at your end?And why did no one bother to reply to any of MY emails??? I sent six or more, with no response whatsoever.

I am sorry to hear that you did not receive the emails which we sent you leading up to the expiration of your domain.
Your domain was always accessible within your account. I did not make it available to you, but I did tell you where to go within your account to renew it.
I am also sorry that you sent in responses that you did not get replies for. We attempt to not only reply to each unique inquiry, but to do so in a reasonable amount of time. I do not see any additional messages from you within our system, so it may be that they went awry at some point.

For goodness sake, this is nonsense! The domain was not accessible! it had some bloody robot thing on it and despite what you say I could not get into it. Stop patronising me, I am not an idiot!!!!
Stop being patronising, stop being sorry, and do something about it !!!!!
I can copy and paste all my emails for all to see if you want…. but i very much doubt that will help…

I am not trying to patronize you. There is nothing which I am able to do regarding the additional fee which is assessed by the domain registrar, however as I mentioned there are other options if you do not wish to pay.
