The problem is that shanekells36c9d622d0 is not my username. I have a username already and that is not it. It seems like it wants me to change my account?? I don’t want to. I have had an account for years, but just can no longer access it

    Hi there,

What site/account are you trying to access?

You’re posting here as the WordPress.com account, shanejkells, which was created as shanekells36c9d622d0 four hours ago, after which you changed the username. This account owns one site with us, also created four hours ago: http://shanekellsphotography.photo.blog/

If you have another site on WordPress.com, it belongs to a different account, but I can’t give you information on that account without verifying that own it first, and we can’t do that in the public support forums.

If you don’t remember the login details for the correct account, please see https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

    Kakkieh
How are you? Thanks for the mail.I am trying to access the site:shanekellsThis was set up years ago when I was Head of School at CIS in India. It was linked to my (email visible only to moderators and staff) account and my India phone number [redacted by staff] These are no longer in use.I tried to get in and each time I was rejected. It is asking for verifications. I signed in and used my username and password, which should be enough.I can give my password to you here if you like. But, it wasn’t enough.I tried for hours today and posted to the forum for help as I was getting nowhere.I thought if I tried opening a new account and moving my blogs over that might work. I started down that path when someone told me that is silly, just write WordPress and get access to my blog site again. So I did.Really frustrating.I can open a new site but only if I can move my existing blogs and twitter links to it.If this is possible, let me know and I will do so.Otherwise, I just need to get into my site.I have a username and password. That should be adequate.

Sorry, I tried this (below) several times today. It could not offer my address or phone number as they are different now that I do not live in India anymore.
If you don’t remember the login details for the correct account, please see https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
I save almost all pertinent passwords and recovery data and have those from over the years.
    Like this one:
    RECOVERY – [redacted by staff]
The sticking point is my email and phone has changed.
Account Recovery:I can’t locate where I am to replace old mail addresses or phone numbers. It says in Account Recovery but I don’t see where I actually give this information?
    Let me know.Thanks for writing.Shane

I am trying to continue to add to my old site, but somehow, it is intertwined with the new site that I made. I only made that so that I could transfer the blogs onto the new site, as I was not being allowed into the old site.
Clearly, the two sites are somehow and somewhat linked as WordPress keeps allowing me access to both, but only to the one I have been using for years as Read Only….
    I don’t get it.

In a perfect world, I would erase the new site I opened today, because all that has done has muddled the issue.
In a perfect world, I would simply change my login to my new (er) email and new (er) phone number and go forth blogging on my old site.
Can’t we just make that happen?

Shane, this is a public forum and since we can’t ask you for personal data, please email our Account recovery team at passwordhelp[at]wordpress.com. Ideally from the email address with which you created the original account, although it sounds like you do not have access to that one anymore.
In any case, our team will get back to you via email.
    Thanks!

    Hello
I wrote to the support and password folks from WordPress and I believe I have done what was asked in order to get my account back.
As this is a public forum, I will leave it at that, but am looking forward to WordPress responding and getting my Blog available to me once more.
    Shane
