I cannot access my site

    In 2014 I set up a site with you. I didn’t post much. and only now am I trying to get back into it but old password and trying to renew password are failing to gain me access.

    It’s best if you create a new WordPress.com site and start fresh!!

    I thought I had deleted it but today when I went to make a comment on someone’s blog, a wordpress platform, before I could comment the old @eldager account name came up and demanded I give its password. I was unable to comment.
    How do I erase the account completely?

    Moving your various duplicate posts to your original thread.

    Years back, 2014 I think, I created the site @eldager. Then circumstances did not allow me to proceed to use it.

    Yesterday when I wanted to comment on my friend’s blog site I found I had to log into the @eldager site in order to complete this comment (I assume my friend’s site was also with wordpress) but the password did not work.

    Yesterday your forum informed me I had closed down the @eldager site a while ago which rings a vague bell.

    What I would like to do is to resume and rename the @eldager site. I do not wish to permanently close it as I think I pay for another site, my daughter’s wordpress site, and I’m concerned it too will be shut down in the process.

    So
    1 Can the @eldager be reinstated and its name changed?
    2 If it can, how do I access it as I have no password to get into it?
    I’ve ignored this matter too long and would like to finally sort it out.

    I think there’s some confusion here. There are two different items we’re referring to:

    1. Your WordPress.com USER account eldager which is still active.
    2. Your WordPress.com WEBSITE eldager.wordpress.com which had been deleted.

    Your user account is a separate entity from your old website. This same user account is what you use to log into and comment on other’s websites. It’s also the same account associated with your daughter’s website, so you don’t want to delete your user account.

    Your old website is unrelated to this and you don’t need a website in order to leave a comment. What you should do is update (or delete) the website you have under your account profile for “Web address” since that site no longer exists:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account

    So to make sure we’re all on the same page here:

    1. Your user account @eldager is currently active and you’re able to use it.
    2. By posting in these forums, you already have the login password as you wouldn’t be able to do so without it.
    3. If you’re being prompted to login in order to leave a comment, what is the URL of the site asking for that login?
