I cannot access my website admin and am getting a 500 internal srever error
-
I am getting an error on my wordpress website. I get the error even when I type in the admin URL. I was told I was in the wrong forum when I posted this question yesterday but I don’t know. How can I work with someone who can help me figure it out. Below is the message I am getting.
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator at (email visible only to moderators and staff) to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Hi there,
Below are the links that I strongly recommend you to follow to understand the cause and solution for a 500 Internal server error.
https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-internal-server-error-in-wordpress/
Apparently, the two most common causes of this error are a corrupted .htaccess file and exceeding your server’s PHP memory limit.
If you activated any plugins just before this error occurred, try to deactivate it through the FTP access. And try again.
If this doesn’t get fixed even after that, the best help you can get for self-hosted WordPress sites is to log your issue at:

Thanks for the info. I read and watched the tutorials but my problem is I don’t know how to get to the wordpress root directory. Is that in the admin area of the website?
