I cannot emove Header Image on Posts

  Even though my old header banner image is no longer in media library, it is still showing on all posts. Only on posts. Not on pages, where my new header banner image is shown as it it supposed to. How do I remove the old header banner image from posts? I tried the obvious – to go to appearance – customize – header. But the image is simply not there – a can therefore not be erased.
