I cannot publish the about page

I am doing this for a dear freind and I am having such problems. I wanted to publish an about me page. So I went to a forum and it said you have to add as a PAGE not a POST and then put an about me widget in. Well I published it as a page and then could NOT find the widget that said about me. Currently it is not live even though I published it!
HELP- Having so many issues. I have my own blog http://www.deborahflate.wordpress.com and I don’t have ANY of these problems which is why I thought this would be easy to do for her!

There isn’t an “about me” widget. There are a couple themes that will show an “about me” section in the sidebar, but with the exception of Andreas04, it only works if you do NOT add any widgets to the sidebar.
My suggestion is to use the new gravatar widget which will show the person’s gravatar image and then allows you to enter some text to go along with it. You can keep the about page for a longer bio if that is appropriate, and even have the gravatar image link to that about page if you wish.

tsp – I’m baffled about the widget/About thing = I’m using Mistylook, with an About page and plenty of widgets…

The “about” widget is part of the self-hosted version of Mistylook, and not included in the version used here.
