I’m not sure what you mean by “the insert image caption allows it easily.” There are two places to add a caption to a gallery image in every “Edit Gallery” page.

What I mean is that when I am NOT in gallery, but instead simply adding an image into a page, at that point, the edit options for the caption are plentiful and easy. But when I am IN Gallery, many of the edit options for the captions for individual images within the Gallery simply disappear – including the edit tool to allow me to select a certain word and insert a link into that word.

What are some of the plentiful edit options available for a caption when inserting an image into a page, as opposed to the options for a gallery image? At “Insert Media” I see only a single caption field. The field is expandable, but that’s the only option I find. What am I missing?

Use the Post editor to build the html code required – make the caption in the visual view of the editor – then switch to the Text view and copy the html code – – then paste it into the caption of your picture

Above the caption field, there is a series of buttons, including add link. That’s what I am looking for within the gallery function.

Thanks auxclass – that is the advice a friend recently gave me. The whole idea of “building the html code required” is exactly what I find so frustrating, and I would like to believe, unnecessary (eventually).

You be welcome – having the editor do the work makes things easier – I use that method on a regular basis when I need a link
