I cannot switch sites. lost username? please help!
-
I have had 3 or 4 blogs over the years, which I thought were all linked to my primary email address. I’ve had my login info saved for so long, that I never needed to re-enter any username or password.
Today I tried to login to one of my sites, jodaclement.wordpress.com and it was not logged in. I tried to login the same way I always do, but it said my password was wrong. I reset it, and was able to login, but only one domain is displayed, eminentdomaintoronto.wordpress.com
Normally is displays an option to switch sites. this was not the case today. I looked everyone within the WP admin and dashboard areas and the only domain i can find linked to my primary email is eminentdomaintoronto.wordpress.com
I used to have 4 domains:
eminentdomaintoronto.wordpress.com
jodaclement.wordpress.com
247maincafe.wordpress.com
listenupvancouver.wordpress.comfurthermore, i tried to fill out the account recovery form, but i do not seem to have an activation email for jodaclement.wordpress.com . i searched all my email accounts, but came up with nothing.
I know what my username and password used to be, however now it does not display a username option, only email. Perhaps this is part of the problem?
Please help!
I don’t actually need or use the other three, but I need access to jodaclement.wordpress.com – it is my artist website and very important for my career to have access to my own website.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

@eminentdomaintoronto I can confirm that site is under another account.
Can you log out and try this form with the username for that account?
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword -
I tried to log out and use the lost password form, but no email response ever came. I fear that that username is linked to an old email that is defunct.
My username is jodaclement but the password I have no longer works. I thought I updated the email, but I can only find WordPress.com emails for this account. Can anyone tell me if this old email was the one on the account?i
< (email visible only to moderators and staff) >Are there any other backup emails on the account that can be used to regain access?
-
I don’t see any backup emails. I can confirm that is the address on file… is there a chance you could set it up again with your provider?
-
Here’s the thing, I closed that email address years ago, as it was unsecure and at the time I thought I had updated all my important accounts and social media to my new gmail address. I just tried now to login or recover the old email address and there is no record of it there either, because I specifically closed the account.
However, since all my WordPress blogs at the time used the same dashboard, I assumed that the email I currently use would be sufficient to login to all my WordPress blogs. I had no idea that there was a separate back up email for my personal website.
Anyways, since this account is clearly linked to that one, can you not just send account recovery info at the same back up email for eminentdomaintoronto.wordpress.com?
Is there not a record of me using and updating jodaclement.wordpress.com and eminentdomaintoronto.wordpress.com from the same dashboard? I don’t see how there could not be, since I’ve been using this dashboard for years.
Please help!

Is there not a record of me using and updating jodaclement.wordpress.com and eminentdomaintoronto.wordpress.com from the same dashboard
We don’t have any records of eminentdomaintoronto updating jodaclement.wordpress.com .
Could you maybe get that email address back?
-
There seems to be no possible way to get that email address back.
Is it not the case that my old login name: jodaclement
was linked to both accounts though? I recall ever having to switch accounts to modify or access either site. I only used the one username and password, which were saved on my computer. There was just an option at the top of the screen on the left hand side that said “switch sites” or something to that effect. I don’t understand why there is no record of this?I spoke with an expert on a chat window as well and she informed me that my password was likely hacked along with many wordpress accounts, which also begs the questions, why can’t I access my own website if it was not my error that led to this situation?
-
there was also another wordpress site I used, called https://listenupvancouver.wordpress.com/
which is clearly linked to my original username ‘jodaclement’, as I can see that username as the author of the posts:
for example, at the bottom of the screen:

I cannot access this site either, and it was created after the closure of my old email address, is there not a backup for this one, that would prove ownership of my original site?
-
If the blogs were not linked as I thought they were, hopefully we can recover through site instead https://listenupvancouver.wordpress.com/
-
I’m sorry, the account eminentdomaintoronto is not linked to the other account or those sites, and for security reasons we can’t simply give out access to another account.
These are the only account recovery options available:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/If you do not have an activation key (kept from an old email), your only other option is to try to reactivate your old address.
-
I understand that eminentdomaintoronto is not necessarily linked to any other accounts, but what about https://listenupvancouver.wordpress.com/ ?
That site is linked to the same username that I am trying to recover ( jodaclement )
Can you please tell me if there is a back up email for that site that I can recover with? It is likely one of these:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
(email visible only to moderators and staff)I don’t see why we can’t recover from the username, since I have the original password as well.
-
The site listenupvancouver.wordpress.com is linked to jodaclement.
The problem is that your account, eminentdomaintoronto, is not at all related to that other account or to the site, as far as we can see.
You need to regain access to jodaclement so you can access listenupvancouver.wordpress.com, right?
-
Yes, I’m realizing now that although the content is linked in all of these blogs, there was no direct link between eminentdomaintoronto and jodaclement.
I need to regain access to jodaclement so I can access listenupvancouver.wordpress.com, (and hopefully jodaclement.wordpress.com)

I need to regain access to jodaclement so I can access listenupvancouver.wordpress.com, (and hopefully jodaclement.wordpress.com)
Agreed.
Unfortunately there are only a few ways to do that:
You could use the original link you used to confirm your email address when you activated your account. If you keep all of your mail, it should still be there.
Is there any way you can regain access to your old email account? I believe that will be your best bet.
-
As I said, I can’t access (email visible only to moderators and staff) any longer. The account was closed, for good.
I thought I had updated all my linked accounts to my new gmail account, but I suppose this might not have occurred in this instance. However, can you tell me if any of the other email addresses I mentioned were used as back up at any point?
And also, I’ve searched all my email accounts and can’t find any record of confirmation for listenupvancouver.wordpress.com, which is strange because I could have sworn that when I created listenupvancouver.wordpress.com I used a gmail address, not the old yahoo one.

Sorry to hear that.
If there were a backup address, it would be included with the password reset options.
-
But you still never answered my question. If I want to recover listenupvancouver.wordpress.com , can you confirm if one of the emails I mentioned is the back up? I can’t fill out the account recovery form, because it asks for proof of account, which I cannot find. However, if it is linked to one of my gmail accounts, I would like to try to recover it. Can you confirm if the backup email is one I listed?
because if I try to recover the password for listenupvancouver.wordpress.com it says there is no such site or username and won’t allow me to proceed . It is clearly linked to the account I am trying to recover (jodaclement). I believe it was around 2014 when I created that site.
-
I mentioned earlier that if there were a backup address, it would be included with the password reset options. But there was no backup address set for jodaclement.
listenupvancouver.wordpress.com it says there is no such site or username and won’t allow me to proceed . It is clearly linked to the account I am trying to recover (jodaclement)
listenupvancouver.wordpress.com is a site rather than a username.
-
Also, as there is nothing we can do more, I would like to close this thread and take it to private ticket, in case you are able to provide evidence of ownership of the jodaclement account.
