i can’t add a new user

i followed the FAQ, and sent an invite to another email address, then clicked the link in the email, and according to wordpress, the new user should appear in the users tab. but the new user isn’t the owner of another blog. we have a blog with 4 authors, we just want different user names for each post. anyone know what i’m doing wrong?

From the FAQ (How do I add more authors / users to my blog?):
“The email address you’re sending the invite to, will receive an email inviting them to sign up for a WordPress.com account (and, optionally, create their own blog if they want). Once they have signed up (and only then), you’ll see them listed as a Contributor on your Users tab. You can change them to a different role (Author or Editor) later if you’d like.”

so they have to create a separate blog to post on the already existing blog? like, create a fake blog?

They only have to create a username, they do not have to create a blog unless they wish to. They will be presented with the choice during signup.
