I can't add pics from the web to my posts

Hi there. I’m having trouble adding pictures from the web to my posts. Any help would be great. Could you guide me step by step, with examples please?

Timethief, it’s not working…
When I try to enter the URL for example:
http://www.cats.comIt comes up with a big red “X” next to the the URL space.
I’m not able to upload any pics. -
That is not an image URL. You need to familiarize yourself with the difference between the URL of the website and the URL of the actual image. An actual image will end in .jpg or .png or something similar. It will never end in .com.

raincoaster nailed it. You can upload the following image types to a post or page on your WordPress.com blog: .jpg/.jpeg .gif .png
