I can’t add the RSS feed.
-
I want people who visit my page to be able to directly subscribe. I can’t seem to get the RSS feed to actually post the sidebar. I went here http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/ but I can’t get it to show up on my blog after I click save. Nothing shows up on the sidebar when I go to my page to see if it’s there. I’m new and this “easy” WordPress is annoying me.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Why not just put the RSS widget in the sidebar and put your own feed in it? What url are you using when you try to put it in the text widget?
-
Isn’t there supposed to be a specific link for the RSS feed? If I just put in the URL http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com, will it work the same? The lat time I added a RSS feed, there was a different URL in than the ones I use to go to that website.
I tried following the instructions, adding my own blog name, but I couldn’t get it to work. I don’t know my specific URL for RSS feed.
I have no idea if I even made sense, sorry.

Your blog’s feed URL is http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/
You can tack “/feed/” on the end of almost any wordpress.com URL to get the feed version.

The easiest way to do code for text widgets is to do it in the post editor.
1. Find the URL of the icon you want from the FAQ such as http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png
2. Go to the post editor, click in the post text area with the mouse, then click on the add image icon, click on the from URL tab, paste the URL into the URL field and then put in a title (such as RSS feed), click “full-sized for the image size and “none” for image alignment, then go down to the “file URL” field and put in the the URL of your feed such as http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/ and click “insert into post. If you want, then put some text after the icon in the editor window such as “Subscribe to my feed”
3. Switch to the HTML tab, copy all the code and text there to your clipboard, go to the text widget and paste the code in, click “save” and the click “close” and then view the blog.
The following code gives you an orange medium sized feed icon for posts and comments RSS, and also turns the text after the icon into a link as well as the icon.
<p><a href="http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" title="RSS" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/feed/">Subscribe to Posts</a></p> <p><a href="http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" title="Comments" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/comments/feed/">Subscribe to Comments</a></p> -
Shoot, I forgot to change one of the links, use this code instead
<p><a href="http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" title="RSS" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/">Subscribe to Posts</a></p> <p><a href="http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/"><img class="alignnone" title="Comments" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/c28.png" alt="" /></a> <a href="http://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/">Subscribe to Comments</a></p> -
tellyworht: I used that as my feed URL and then I also tried this one, feed://pgaesthetics.wordpress.com/feed/. I did both using the RSS widget. It doesn’t work.
thesacredpath: I want to add it in the sidebar so it’s always there. I but this in the post test editor, won’t it show up as a post?

See #3, you copy the code out and paste it into the text widget. Do not publish the post, it can be deleted. You just use the visual editor in the post editor to make it easier to create the links and such.
The link on the text does not have the feed/ at the end of it. You will want to add that. The link to the icon is correct though.
