    I can’t figure out how to change the center image on my home page. It doesn’t allow me in headers

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – You can change your header in Appearance->Header here:
    https://james217ministriesdotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-header

    Your home page itself shows your posts. You have one published post so far, and you can edit it from here:
    https://james217ministriesdotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

    If you’re new to WordPress.com, I recommend going through our new user’s guide here:

    Is there a way to delete the blog part of this website? Or is there a way to delete the links that sections that say, “Catagories”, “Archives”, “Recent comments” and “Meta”?

  • Hi Chris,

    Is there a way to delete the blog part of this website? Or is there a way to delete the links that sections that say, “Catagories”, “Archives”, “Recent comments” and “Meta”?

    It looks like you already figured that out – wonderful! You might also be interested in the tips in this article:

    For the PayPal button, please follow these instructions:

    So if I want to use a Paypal button that has a drop down menu option I have to find a new host?

  • Hi Chris – Correct, the drop-down menu button contains code that our system strips out for security reasons:
    Code

    You could use multiple PayPal buttons for the various options, however.

    O.K., that’s fine.
    My next question is. When I bought the template , I assumed that the layout was going to look exactly how the layout was in the live demo. We want to be able to have the picture slide show on the front page with the see through description (as shown in the live demo for the “organization theme”

  • Hi Chris – To set that up, you need to edit the page you are using as your front page and choose the “Home Page” template in the Page Attributes module:
    http://cl.ly/image/0Q0W0r3n0J3c

    Note that when you do that, the text that you’ve entered for your front page won’t appear, so you should move that text to a post rather than a page:
    Post vs. Page

    Then please follow the instructions under “Homepage Image Gallery” here:
    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/organization/support/

    The slider at the top will display featured images from the posts you have tagged with your chosen tag, as explained in those instructions. Note that setting a featured image is a bit different than simply adding an image to a post. Here is how to set a featured image:
    Featured Images

    If you get stuck, please let me know which step in the theme’s instructions you’re having trouble with, and what happens when you try to follow it.

    I believe I figured it all out. The last thing I need to do is to add the kinda see through text box that they have in the header that you can click on.

  • Unknown's avatar

    On the Organization theme website it says, “This is an example post excerpt. You can use the excerpt to write a post description that will display in the featured slideshow. If no excerpt is added, no content will be displayed on top of the featured content slideshow image.” and it has a white bold title right above it.

  • Hi there – Awesome, it’s looking good! You’ll want to add your excerpt in the Excerpt module below the post editor, as pictured here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/#creating-excerpts

    If you don’t see that Excerpt module, click the Screen Options tab in the upper right-hand corner of your Dashboard and make sure it’s enabled:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/

    Let me know if you still have trouble!

  • Unknown's avatar

    There’s no option for “Excerpt Module”

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there – if you click the Screen Options button when you’re in the post editor:

    https://cloudup.com/iFKd0uYR8zV

    And then check the Excerpt box:

    https://cloudup.com/iJir4RxQzte

    You should see the text box to place your own description of the post.

    Hope that helps!

    On the top of our page when you go to the drop down menus, and you look at the tabs “CONTRIBUTE”, “SPONSORS”, and “CONTRIBUTE”; there are spaces in the middle of the words and won’t scoot in to look like normal words.

    The next thing is, if you huver over projects and you see, “EXTREME CHRISTMAS MAKEOVER 2013”, the green box doesn’t move over enough to keep the word makeover in the box, and it does the same thing for it’s it’s parent “EXTREME CHRISTMAS MAKEOVER 2012”

    It looks like you figured this part out already, as I can see the words correctly with no spaces in the middle. Please let me know if that’s not the case and I can look into it for you.

    This is because the Organization theme has a set width for the dropdown menu’s and because your title is longer than this, it’s breaking out of the container. The easiest option is to try and shorten your title to fit into the dropdown menu.

    If not, you could do this instead with the Custom Design upgrade, using the following code:

    ul.menu ul {
    width: 230px;
    }

    ul.menu li li:hover ul,
    ul.menu li li.sfHover ul {
    	left: 230px;
    	}

    That would make your menu look like this:

    Hope that helps :)

    On internet explorer there’s no gaps, but if you try to view the page with google chrome, there is. I have attached a screen shot for you on the page called Test. This is how to the words look. ‘CONTRI BUTE”
    “PROJ ECTS” and “SPONS ORS”

    That’s strange indeed!

    I’m using Chrome myself and there are no gaps between the words like that. Could you try upgrading your version of Chrome? I’m on version 31.0.1650.57 and it looks like you’re running 30.0.1599.101.
