I can't change the meta description on my wordpress homepage

    I am using yoast and I want to edit the meta description that occurs in homepage of my website.When I update it the old meta description still appears. The new one is just save but did not appear on my home page . Please help Thank you.

    Unfortunately, this isn’t the right WordPress forum to help with that problem. You appear to have a self-hosted site using the WordPress.org software, but this forum is for blogs hosted here on WordPress.com. The two versions are different and have separate forums. Please post your question at the WordPress.org forum: https://wordpress.org/support/

    description : A blog by Jasvinder Nakhwal (by Brian McDonald)

    This is not a problem with Google or webmaster tools, when I make changes and inspect the site everything is fine.

    I have change the meta description to “blog by” “blog” “test” but every time, whatever I add here, it always adds on the words (by Brian McDonald)

    I really need this part removed from the wordpress.com site. Please advise? Many thanks

    @macca352 – It appears that you’ve sorted this out. I did a “view source” on your site’s homepage, searched for “Brian McDonald” and found no results.

    Thanks. Yes a bit of annoying one and I haven’t seen it with my other blog sites. Basically it was bringing in my gravatar display name. I have removed the name and updates and now seems fine. I tested and changed this field and whatever I had as the display name replicates to the meta description. It does however now mean my account has no display name attached which I guess I can live with.

    Odd it doesn’t pull this in for other sites though. Thanks
