I can't delete previous gravatar images?

    Hi,

So I signed up on wordpress so that I could edit my ‘gravatar’, which I did. Then I decided to change it again, and uploaded a new picture. But now below, where it says “Pick new image” my previous picture is there also. I want to delete it so I hover my mouse over it and a blue ‘X’ comes up on the right of the image, and it also shows the rating I gave it (G).

But whenever I actually move my mouse to go and click the ‘X’, it disappears. Like the X only appears when my mouse pointer is actually hovering ON the image, but when I move the pointer to click on the ‘X’ which is on the right of the image, the hover thing disappears. It’s very strange! Why won’t it let me click the ‘X’??? This is so strange.

I normally use firefox (updated), so I thought maybe if I try with chrome (I have both) it might work, but I am now on Chrome and it does the exact same thing. I have subsequently disabled all add ons temporarily, cleared my cache, but it still does the same thing.

I thought if I click on the picture, maybe the option will come up to delete it there instead, but all I get is it asking to confirm whether I want to ‘pick that image’. I don’t want to pick that image, I want to delete all my previous images!

Can someone please help? Has this happened to anyone else?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, it has. The current state of the Gravatar/Profile pages is truly puzzling: The “Photo Gallery” link at the Gravatar “Edit My Profile” page includes a link titled “edit your Gravatars.” This is only place I could find where it was possible to “remove” an image. However, removing an image does not delete it, but rather only allows you to choose another image to replace it with, if you happen to have more the one image in the Gravatar “photo gallery.”

I’d previously (several months ago) been able to delete unused Gravatar images without trouble, but was unable to discover any way to do that today. To test your claim, I added a second image and discovered that, just as you have reported here, I could not delete it. The only options are to add a new image or select an image from among the ones you’ve added to the gallery.

@musicdoc1 Thanks for your response. Since your response, I checked again and I think they have fixed it. Now the ‘x’ is permanently below each image and doesn’t hover to the right when the cursor is on the picture. This is much better and because of this I can now delete previous gravatar images. I’m not sure what they did but I’m glad. Is it working for you? :)

Yes, thanks. It does work now, but I still think the Gravatar/Profile maze is still ridiculously muddled. For example:

    1. The “edit my profile” link at my Gravatar profile page goes to a page titled “Name and Details.” And the page tab at the top only recognizes this page as “Gravatar — Globally Recognized Avatars,” which sounds like an advertisement. All of the Gravatar/Profile pages I will mention have the same page tab.

    2. The Photo Gallery link at the “edit my profile” leads to a page contains no photo gallery, but allows you to add another photo. It also contains the message, “Upload as many photos as you’d like to show on your profile, or edit your Gravatars.” However,

    3. The “edit your Gravatars” link at the Photo Gallery page without a photo gallery leads to a page with the URL extension “emails.” Why is my Gravatar image gallery on a page identified as “emails” in the URL? True, you may add an email address here, but aren’t the principal purposes of the page 1. allowing you to change the Gravatar image, and 2. the place where all images in your Gravatar/Profile photo gallery can be viewed, chosen as your Gravatar, or deleted?
