I can't do Blocks

I have been using a WordPress site for years, using the old editor with no trouble. Trouble is, the idiot Facebook IA declared that I had “violated community standards,” which I haven’t, but there is no way to appeal.
Got the bright idea of starting a second blog and continuing with that, but I can’t even get started with the current editor.
Is it possible for me to use the same tools as I have for years?

If you’re looking for the experience of the classic editor, I suggest the classic block. You can learn more about that here:

When I searched, “classic block” was not available.
I managed to insert a header pic and text, but now I cannot find how to have tabs at the top, categories and search slot on the top, invitation to follow and similar tools I have on my current site.
Also, I need to write other pages, and when I am ready, blog posts.
Since I am immensely retired and living on pennies, I cannot afford a monthly fee, sorry.

Hi Bob, While I haven’t started a new site in a long time, on my current site it’s still possible to use the Classic Editor, but you need to access it from WP Admin. This guide explains how you get there https://wordpress.com/support/classic-editor-guide/ I’m also thinking that you might need to be using one of the older themes on your site, but I could be wrong there. If you are just starting a new site, try activating an older theme to see if it doesn’t bring back the features you prefer to use.
It’s still worthwhile getting used to using the block editor because we don’t know how long the Classic will be supported. For the Classic Block, when you’re in the Editor, type /classic and it should appear for you. It has most of the Classic Editor’s features. It sounds like you’re working in the theme editor. The Classic Block is not allowed within that.

The theme editor is only for editing how your site looks. To add content, you’ll start at https://wordpress.com/posts/bobbingaround662024441.wordpress.com

To add a menu as well, you need to create a custom menu in this theme, as it doesn’t display one by default. The simpler option in this case is to use the Customizer:
Go to Appearance ->Customize ->Menus.
You already have a menu there, called “Primary”. Click on that.
Now you can use the Add Items button to add items to your menu. Also make sure you check the box next to Primary Navigation – that assigns the menu to your theme’s menu area. Click Save/Update once you’re done, and the menu should be visible on your site:
