    Do you use a VPN or a security software (antivirus/antimalware)? Sometimes those types of programs can cause this issue.

    Hello,

    updating Firefox to the newest version (90.1.1.) solved the problem for me. However, every update seems to screw up some features which formerly worked (in Firefox, not in WordPress). So, better backwards compatibility of WordPress with earlier browser versions would be great. But at least I can now access the WordPress editor again.

    I can understand why this would be good. But backwards compatibility comes at the price that the WordPress software cannot make use of the newest web technologies and browser features available. If we can’t use the newest features, people will switch to our competitors who can, which will eventually lead to WordPress going the same way as MySpace :)

    Officially the open source WordPress software only supports the two most recent major releases of any browser, so for Firefox that’s version 88 and 89 (90 is still in beta at the moment, and hasn’t been released to the general public yet).

    We use that software to power WordPress.com as well, so the same browser support applies on our end.
