Last night I redirected my WordPress blog to a .com site i already own. Now the blog posts I have made have disappeared. I configured the DNS at GoDaddy.com for my site “makewaltnotwar.com” and the site now exists but I cannot edit it through WordPress and my blog posts from “makewaltnotwar.wordpress” cannot be found. What have i done wrong?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey there!

You appear to have added mapping for the custom domain (makewaltznotwar.com) to your site, makewaltznotwar.wordpress.com/.

However, it doesn’t appear as if the name servers are point to WordPress.com. The name servers should be:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

If you’ve already done this, but you’ve done it quite recently, it can take up to 72-hours for these changes to begin to work properly.

If you could, confirm the name servers are correct at GoDaddy, then let’s see if everything begins working within the 72-hour window.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Thank you. The instruction I read only mentioned ns1 and ns2. I just added ns3. I’ll wait 72 hours and see what happens. I was wondering if I had to delete all the GoDaddy content from their program and start clean with the WordPress site since I don’t wantr to use the GoDaddy site software anymore. Any ideas on that. Also, they list 2 other name servers that I assume are default servers. Should I delete them ? Thank you.

    Hey there!

Perfect — adding the other NS3.wordpress.com name server was a great step.

I was wondering if I had to delete all the GoDaddy content from their program and start clean with the WordPress site since I don’t wantr to use the GoDaddy site software anymore. Any ideas on that.

Nope! You don’t have to do that. As soon as your name servers are working properly, nobody will even see the content at GoDaddy.

Any ideas on that. Also, they list 2 other name servers that I assume are default servers. Should I delete them ?

Absolutely! I believe that these might be the main cause of your trouble. Delete those, and ONLY leave the WordPress.com name servers.

Please do be in touch and let me know when everything is up and running. Thanks so much!

I just deleted most of my GoDaddy content. I was unable to delete the default servers that are listed. I hope this is of some help. Thank you.

    Hey Dom,

Please be in touch and let me know if the domain mapping was a success. If things don’t work properly, GoDaddy’s support should be able to clean up any name server issues you’re having! I can help in whatever way I can, as well.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Robyn

After working with GoDaddy support, I believe I was able to resole my issues. The page looks the way it should now. Thank you very much for your help in this matter.

    Hey there!

I tried out your custom domain, makewaltznotwar.com, and it works great for me. Looks like your mapping was a success! I’m so glad.

Thanks for following up! Wishing you the best.
