Hi @gfbertini,
Unfortunately The Journalist theme has been retired and it’s not available anymore.
By following the tags related to The Journalist theme, I manage to create a quick search within the Theme Store for you: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/two-columns+light+responsive-layout/
There are other options on the page you can pick to refine the search and find the closest theme possible for you.Hope this is helpful and good luck with your research.
If you have any other questions, let me know :) -
Hi @stefaniamattana,
Thanks for your bad news. I do not understand why WP is retiring a theme that is being used, and at least keep it available for old users. Anyway, I will try your search.
I will be grateful if you have a look to my 8 Learning Change Project’ blogs to suggest some similar ones – https://gfbertini.wordpress.com/
Thanks again.

Themes are retired because they can no longer support the majority of new WordPress features, especially the mobile compatibility and the infinite scroll ones. More than 20% of the total traffic on website comes from mobile device nowadays and it’s vital that themes are mobile friendly in this sense. Theme that cannot be updated with this particular fiction unfortunately goes in retirement.
On top of the ones that show up from the research link I left on my previous comment, I can recommend you themes such as Syntax and Untitled, which I reckon are quite similar to The Journalist.
Please also note that if you’ve got a retired theme running on your website, it’s going to work as usual as long as you’ve got it in use. Once you change it for another one, you won’t be able to re-apply it again as for its retired status.
Hope this all helps :)

You might like to check out Colinear:
https://colineardemo.wordpress.com/It has an option for a single right sidebar and is quite similar in look and feel to The Journalist, but it’s responsive and adapts well to screens of all sizes.
I just wanted to clarify a couple of things about retired themes:
Retired themes are available to any site created up until the moment of a theme’s retirement. The Journalist 1.9 was retired on 2013-07-31.
Once you change it for another one, you won’t be able to re-apply it again as for its retired status.
This isn’t correct – you can reactivate a retired free theme on any site created before the retirement date, regardless of whether you’ve switched to another theme. (It is true for retired premium themes, however — once you switch away you cannot get it back.)

Thanks for the clarification @kathrynwp – hope not to have confused our fellow @gfbertini!

Thanks you both for your clarifications.
How to know if a selected Theme will survive for new related blogs?
Why WP does not advice users that a Theme is going to be retired?
Why not to keep a Theme available just for old users?
Could it be possible for WP to inform via Forum about Themes life changes?
It is a matter of Users relations with WP.
