I can't find "update" anywhere in my tools, upgrade, or other parts of my dashbo

I can’t find any way to update. I’ve looked at several help sites and there’s no “update” button where they say it will be. My blog was originally converted from microsoft spaces if that helps.

    Hi there,

What are you looking to update? Are you looking to purchase an upgrade, or are you looking for a way to update the contents of your site?

If you are looking to do either, you’ll need to log in to your Dashboard, which you can do by going to:

    http://awaypoint.wordpress.com/wp-admin

There you’ll need to login. Once logged in you can navigate to Posts >> Add New to create new content, or if you want to upgrade your site you can go to the Store link to review your options!

Thanks. Actually, though, I’ve done both of those things before. What I wanted to do was to update to the latest release of WordPress. A friend has more options in his left sidebar in the Dashboard, and said he thought I was running on an old version.

Ah! OK, that difference comes because your friend is running a self-hosted WordPress.org website whereas you are on a WordPress.com site. There are a few differences between the two, not the least of which is that you don’t ever need to update your installation, we take care of that for you!

Here’s an article which details those differences:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
