I can't get a post off the home page!

I’ve just started this blog, so I’m still figuring this out. I have created a home page, which has a simple image of a field at night, however, the first post is stuck to the home page. The only way I can prevent it from showing is to disable the post completely, which doesn’t help. How can I get my home page back so that it’s not stuck displaying the first post?
This is totally frustrating me — any help would be great. Thanks!

Ok there does not seem to be a button to edit the post, but I forgot to add the info that I know there is a button when you create posts which says “stick to the front page” or something like that, but that toggle is not enabled.
