I can't get my theme options to work
-
Building my second WP site I’m having no luck getting my theme options to work, where I had no problem with my last site. I want my few widgets (search field, blog excerpts, text widget) to appear as one side bar right, but every time I choose this selection (or any other for that matter) nothing changes, these items simply remain at the bottom of each page. Yes, I have continually saved my changes, and every other change I make to the site seems to work. I should add that I deleted an old site before starting to build the current one. Does anyone have any insight? The site URL is dwarendcustompainting.wordpress.com my email is (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

Hi,
Are you aware of the six sidebar layout options under Theme Options on the Colinear theme? See the Multiple Layouts section of the Colinear theme guide. Which option have you selected?
The images on your front page have tons of superfluous code, but I don’t know whether that code or perhaps a stray div tag or two in the HTML of the same page might be causing the problem. See the HTML Troubleshooting support page.

I should have said “evidently superfluous code,” because I’ve never seen anything like some of it.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I am well aware of the six sidebar layout options. This is exactly what’s not working for me. I’ve chosen the “one sidebar right” option several times with no luck. It worked perfectly for me with the last site I built, which also employed the Colinear theme. I wonder if the “evidently superfluous code” you mention is some residual code from a previous site that I deleted, could that be possible? Well, I know HTML fairly well, but have never dealt with it in WordPress -that’s one reason I elected to use WordPress: for the convenienceof not having to deal with code! But I’ll try and go in and see if I can clean it up. I’ll tell you what happens. Thanks again. -Demian

Oh, by the way…just to clarify, this is not Bibelotsblog.wordpress.com that I’m concerned with…it’s dwarendcustompainting.wordpress.com…

Hey there. I went in and looked at the HTML for the homepage on dwarendcustompainting.wordpress.com …what did you see that was superfluous exactly? I didn’t see any stray div tags. I’m now gonna try your link to HTML trouble-shooting… I also tried reducing the size of the images on the homepage to see if maybe that might create more room for a sidebar. No effect.

what did you see that was superfluous exactly?
I looked closer this time. Perhaps I should have said “unfamiliar” rather than “superfluous.” Two aspects in particular of the code that I’m not familiar with:
1. meta data or meta description regarding camera, aperture, shutter speed, etc., including dozens of ‘"’ HTML entities.2. The img URL for each of the three images is given six times in the corresponding HTML code, four times near the beginning and twice at the end, with different dimensions each time.
I think the div tags I saw the first time might have been from the share buttons, which I might have inadvertently copied and pasted.

The entity I’m referring to keeps getting stripped here. It is
& q u o t ;
without the spaces between the character. There are dozens of these for each image. -
Update:
I had merely copied and pasted the content of your front page into an editor on a test site, and hadn’t saved the page. When I saved it, all of the unfamiliar code I mentioned above was stripped or converted. So now it looks perfectly normal. Nothing unusual.
