i can’t get paypal buttons to work
-
are there any tricks to get paypal links to work? i have a small record label and i want to provide a simple paypal pull-down menu (that allows you to choose the region in which you live) and then a “buy” button. i’ve tried everything i’m supposed to do but it doesn’t work. is there some built-in limitation with WordPress’s software which doesn’t allow this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. The official WordPress.com documentation says you can add a PayPal “donate” button. Please note: you must add the “email” version of that button, otherwise it will not work!
http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/To my knowledge, it is the only PayPal “button” that works at WordPress.COM. If your goal is to offer your visitors the possibility to have a shopping cart and checkout via PayPal, you may have to find another web hosting provider.

Can’t be done at wordpress.COM since it requires code that is not allowed here due to security concerns. The only paypal button that will work here is the “donate” button since it is plain HTML
If paypal and buy now are essential, you will have to self-host a blog on a third-party hosting service such as godaddy or bluehost, etc. Figure a monthly cost of about $10 to $25 depending on bandwidth and storage requirements.

okay that’s what i thought. i’m now trying to figure out how to assign name servers to the domain, as i have a friend who will host it for free. anyone have a clue how to do that? or even how to transfer domain registration elsewhere? i’m done with WordPress but they don’t make it easy to leave. like the hotel california….

Easy to leave – just export your content and import into new site running WordPress.ORG software – WordPress.COM even has a domain forwarding upgrade (sorry not exactly the right name) so that visitors to your prisontatt.wordpress.com/ will be sent to your new site.
The URL prisontatt.wordpress.com/ will however stay with WordPress.COM, so you will need to register your own name.

thanks auxclass. i don’t really want to use the wordpress software, as this is what has gotten me into trouble with the paypal button. since i bought the domain name here i need to change the name servers here, and i can’t seem to find that spot in the site.

The WordPress.ORG software on a self hosted site is very different in many ways – the big one to you is the ability to use the PayPal Buy Now button and several Plug-in’s for ecommerece – you will be much happier with WordPress.ORG software than trying to do things in html.
If I were in your place I would have no problem going back to the WordPress.ORG software.
Go over to WordPress.ORG and look around – I run my whole site on WordPress software – first on .ORG then I moved here to get out of the software maintenance business.
WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you might be using: http://wordpress.org/support/

WordPress.ORG works perfectly well with Paypal, ecommerce, etc, in fact it’s the top platform right now for small ecommerce sites. It’s WordPress.COM that doesn’t work with that.
