I can't get rid of the leave a reply option

  remove leave a reply. I am beyond frustrated. I am school teacher and have been using this site for about a year. As a teacher, it is imperative that there can be no comments or replies made at all — ever (for obvious reasons). When I was on my blog from last year it was very simple to do. I just spent 30 minutes of my Friday night trying to figure out how to get the leave a reply option off my blog and it is impossible. I already unclicked the comments box. Why must things that work perfectly be changed? I am very disappointed.

  All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts. Your visitors click the post tiles or the comment links or comment bubbles on the front page of the blog and they are directed to the full post appearing on it’s own page where the comment boxes appear at the end of the posts.

  You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.

  You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

  I have tried this and it does not work. I am still left with the leave a reply option directly under the title.

  Just checked your site, I can’t see any “leave a reply” on the main page or on a individual post. Let me know where you are seeing it exactly.

  Ah, I see it now. Your original topic listed a different WordPress.com site.

  Just to make sure, can you confirm that both of these sites have the option on the Discussion Settings page, turning off comments on new articles.

  Once that is confirmed you will also need to check the first post you made on the new site to make sure the Discussion option gets disabled on that as well. When a post gets created it inherits the default setting from the Discussion Settings page. If you change the default it doesn’t change the setting on any old posts. You have to manually do that.

  I did get rid of the reply option. I couldn’t get the original post to change it so I just copied the old post, deleted it and pasted it into a new one. That did the trick.
