i can't get to the dashboard

I can’t figure out how to get to the dashboard part from clicking ‘my site’. i was drafting an entry there on another computer, and now that i’m on my laptop, i can’t seem to get back to that.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m having the same issue and I’m not sure what’s going on. There are no accessible links to get to the admin dashboard and it’s driving me nuts. Some people need to be able to access this so they can finish configuring blog posts or blog settings.

I have met absolutely the same problem… Recently I have lost the option Admin, after it I used the link User to get the dashboard, but a couple of days ago it disappeared as well. Very strange case, I am trying to find a solution but no results at all…

I came across a potential work-around via this thread >>

Try manually adding /wp-admin/ to the end of your blog URL.

I figured it out! go your actual site (bekahwritesstuff.wordpress.com) and click on the 3 lines that are on the top right (which show your recent posts, comments, archive, etc.), and on the bottom, under the META section, there should be an option to click on SITE ADMIN. that took me to my dashboard :) hope that helps!

Same issue with me please help

If you click on My Site(s) in the toolbar, that will take you to the main WordPress.com dashboard. It looks different than the older styled WP Admin dashboard, which (as you mentioned earlier) you can still access by adding wp-admin to the end of your home page URL.

May I ask if clicking on My Site let’s you do everything you need to or not? If not, may I ask what in particular you are missing?

I have lost 2 options: wp-Admin and User, instead of Users now I can see People, but to tell the truth it is rather useless link…Going nowhere
The previous version of the dashboard was clear and gives more options to manage the site, I mean, I could manage with the whole process. With new MySite actually I can just write text and add pictures.

Many thanks to insdigest… It works.
Many thanks to everybody for your help!

May I ask what in particular you are missing the most from the newer admin pages?

    Links
    Media Files
    Tags
    Tools
    Customize
    Feedback

I don’t know, may be it is just because in most cases and questions I follow instructions from your help desk and all instructions work with the previous dashboard, in many cases I cannot find relevant options on the new one…

Thank you! And that’s a really good point about the documentation.

From your list, Customize is the only one I can think of that’s already available in the new admin pages, it’s a button next to “Themes” in the left sidebar.

Do you mean the link manager? That was actually removed from core WP (but still available as a plugin) a while back, but it was added back to WordPress.com after it was removed from WordPress. On that one, far fewer people use it than used to so it will be lower down on the priority list because of low usage. There are good ways to list links in the sidebar without managing them through the links interface too (especially if the list is short). I checked the link manager at https://astrologicdiary.wordpress.com/wp-admin/link-manager.php and those are mostly the defaults and it doesn’t look like you’re displaying them on your blog.

Tags can be added and managed per post. Did you put tags in your list because you need to delete them? That’s the only reason I can think of where you’d need WP Admin for tags.

Feedback is a good one. However, I think in terms of usage, it’s another one that gets less compared to other features and therefore was not prioritized but may get added in the future.

    Tools is being worked on.

In the new editor, the insert media flow is getting a revision. I would love if you’d be willing to test it early. Would you be interested in testing??

Many thanks for your help and all details!

You know, now I definitely think :)) that the main question was not in a new dashboard but in instructions which would allow work with it.

There is only one point I would like to remark, in my opinion, some people (including me) would prefer shaping before posting, that is why they prepare all details first, I mean, create tags, prepare media files, customize if they need etc. As I can see, the new dashboard suggests doing it while posting, sometimes it is not quite comfortable, at least in my opinion.

If I could help with testing, please let me know. I am not sure that I am big specialist in this subject :)) but will be very glad to help in my turn.

Thanks again for your support and have a nice day!
