I’ve added the following rules in “Visibility” for the “Top Posts & Pages” widget:

    Hide if: Page is About
    or Page is Contact
    or Page is Events

All three of these pages show up in the widget results.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi John,

Those Visibility settings change where the widget itself is displayed on your site, not what pages and posts are displayed within the results. As you’ve set it, your widget will always appear in the sidebar except on those specific pages.

The results within the widget are determined and displayed automatically. For your About, Contact, and Events to not be displayed there will need to be other posts and pages with more views, such that those pages are not in your Top pages anymore.

OK thanks. No widget that will display only posts?

That’s kind of a problem. I think that the “about” page might always be among the most clicked-on. Wish I could exclude all pages.

There are other widgets that will display only posts, but not the “top” posts like that widget:

    Display WordPress Posts

    Recent Posts Widget

Or a Text Widget containing the Display Posts Shortcode

One option you might consider is to adjust the Top Posts and Pages widget to sort by Likes instead of Visits — then disable Likes from all your Pages. Once your posts start getting likes, those will be the top posts in the widget.
