I can't 'like' anything on my site,

I can comment on my site (thepeacefulpub.wordpress.com) but I can’t like anything.
This happened this morning too, and then the problem went away, but now it is back.
The topics that I’m trying to like have other likes, so I know the like feature is activated.thanks for your help

Likes on your site appears to be working fine, so the problem might be with your browser.
Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies. Then make sure you have third-party cookies activated in your browser. Please check if you’re able to like posts then.

but now I’m concerned….
Why would WordPress put something on my computer
that would keep it from functioning on their site? That
doesn’t make a lot sense to me. It affected more than
one browser, so I’m guessing it relates to my profile
as opposed to my browser. Have you any idea exactly
what would trigger it?Many thanks.

We use cookies to track you across different WordPress.com sites, but that file can become corrupted over time which then prevents us from correctly tracking you. It’s just something that happens, which is why the first thing support for any website will suggest you try is to clear cookies so a new cookie can be saved. While it’s less likely that tracking cookies in more than one browser become corrupted around the same time, it’s not impossible.
So it’s not really a problem with how WordPress.com works, but rather a limitation in browser and web technology as it exists at the moment. On day hopefully someone smart will come along and invent a different way to track website visitors that doesn’t have as much potential to also cause problems :)
