I can't like (or see likes) on other blogs' comments

To clarify, this is only about the like buttons for comments. I see the like buttons for posts just fine. I see the like buttons for comments on most people’s WordPress blogs just fine. And I see the like buttons on posts and comments on my own blog just fine.
But for certain other WordPress blogs I go to, I can see the comments but not the comments’ like buttons. I thought at first those blogs had likes for comments disabled, but then I noticed I got emails saying that my comment was liked. Went back–nope, still can’t see a like button. I asked that blogger, and other people can like comments on his blog, just not me (that he knows of).
Can anybody think of ANY reason why I would not be able to see the like buttons for comments on certain pages, while other bloggers can? Is it me? Is it their blog settings?

I choose not to enable likes on my comments https://en.support.wordpress.com/comment-likes/ as I find that very off putting. I find like buttons have pretty much replaced thoughtful comments, as people are into quick and easy and button clicking suits that agenda.
That said there are two “flavors” of WordPress software and we cannot answer you unless or until your provide specific URLs.

Sorry, I thought I had been clear on that. These are blogs where likes on comments are definitely enabled. The blogger is liking my comments, and other people are too.

Yes, it would seem that the blogger does not choose to enable likes on comments. https://en.support.wordpress.com/comment-likes/ If they insist that they did enable them then that blogger has to log in and post into this thread for Staff help.

Can you see that it’s not enabled, or do you just not see the like buttons? Maybe you don’t see them for whatever same reason I don’t.
Main confusion with your answer: how can he like my comments on his posts, if his comment likes are not enabled? WordPress sends me emails saying he liked my comments. Is that possible?

I do not see comment like buttons. I am a Volunteer and we do not have backend access to blogs; only Staff have it. That is why I provided instructions for tagging the thread for Staff help above.

Okay, that’s useful to know, that you can’t see the like buttons either. I’ll see if I can get this other blogger on board so we can figure this out.

I’m on a PC using Firefox 40. I have now also checked using IE11 and I don’t see them using it either.

Hi Joy,
Comment likes are not enabled on momusnews.wordpress.com. As far as the user liking a comment you made on their post, either they disabled their comment likes feature after they liked your comments or they liked a comment that you made on a blog other than theirs.
So, most likely the blogs that you are visiting with no comment like button have that feature disabled.

That doesn’t work with the timing, unfortunately. I’ve been having the problem of not being able to see the likes on my comments on that page for quite some time, yet I continue to get emails from WordPress saying that the blog host has liked my comment. In fact, I got another email about him liking one of my comments on his blog after timethief’s post at 2:36.
The blog host says that he’s liking the comments on his dashboard, not on the post page that everyone else would see. Does that make sense to you? I can’t find any way to like comments on my own blog on the My Sites/Comments page.
Or let me try another tactic: how do you disable or enable likes on comments? I’ve been searching online for that and can’t find it, and I can’t find anything in my settings for it.

Yes, that explains it. Although comment likes are disabled on the site, the blog owner is still able to like comments made on his post through his dashboard. I’ve included a screenshot of how you’re able to do so:
You’ve probably noticed that no one else has liked the comments you’ve made on the owner’s blog but the owner and that is why.
how do you disable or enable likes on comments? I’ve been searching online for that and can’t find it, and I can’t find anything in my settings for it.
