I can’t log into my site

    I have a website but when I try to log in using my email, it says I don’t. I can find it on the internet, just can’t log into it on wordpress. Can you help?

    I messed up something by changing my username, I have an old site on here called “aptclearlake” and another old one I totally deleted called “aptexpert” because I have a new site on Bluehost that’s paid and published but on WordPress.org but I can’t figure out how to log into the aptclearlake one that is not nearly finished? Please let me know how to move forward if at all possible. I didn’t realize by changing my login name to WordPress.com I would be losing access to my old sites. Thanks in advance for your help

    We can’t help directly because we don’t host aptexpert.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.

    Instead your host (Bluehost) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. Specifically we use a custom login system on WordPress.com (for enhanced security) that also helps prevent this kind of lockout from occurring.

    The good news is that as long as you have access to the server control panel through Bluehost, it is always possible to regain access to your self-hosted WordPress site. This WordPress.org support article will walk you through it: https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/

    You can ask Bluehost support for direct assistance in completing the steps in that article; they would be in the best position to help.
