I can't post comments on other blogs I'm following

I can’t post comments on other blogs that I am following. This has been the case for some time now and I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve not been blocked from any blogs as far as I know and I only comment very rarely anyway, so I don’t understand what the problem is.

What are the URLs of the sites you’re unable to leave comments on?
Also, do you see any errors when you try to submit your comments?

The other blogs are also wordpress blogs and I can’t see any errors when trying to submit comments.

You don’t have to share all of them, just two or three will be fine.

I’ve even tried logging out and logging in again and this makes no difference either.

Both sites are set to manually approve comments before they appear.
This is at the discretion of the site’s owner, and the comments will appear if they approve them.

I don’t think the comments get that far because I can’t seem to enter them at all, for approval or not. When I click on the ‘post comment’ button nothing happens.

Does the page reload with the form empty?
If so, your comment was submitted for approval successfully.

No, nothing at all happens when I click on the ‘post comment’ button. The page doesn’t reload at all.

Ok, first please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I’m using Microsoft Start and it is an up to date version. I don’t know what ‘cache’ means and I don’t want to disable the cookies, even if I knew how to, because it will make operating other websites difficult. I’m not having any problems with any other website so I doubt it’s anything to do with the browser. Plus, I can obviously submit comments here…..

I doubt it is anything to do with my devices as I have the same problem on all my devices, this notebook, a tablet Kindle Fire and a HP laptop.

When you make a comment, it’s logged in the system that checks whether or not your post is spam.
We’re not showing any evidence that your commenting attempts are successful – everything you’ve posted here in the forums shows up just fine.
This points to an issue with the browser or operating system you’re using.
Try using a different browser other than Edge and see if you have the same problem. If so, let us know what operating system and browser (and versions of each) you’re using? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

I’ve now tried this on Firefox, Chrome, the Silk browser on my Kindle fire and even on someone else’s iPad and the same problem persists. It isn’t likely to be due to all these different devices having something wrong with them. That’s just a kop-out. What I can say is that I didn’t use the wordpress site or my own blog, or look at anyone else’s blog for a long time and when I came back to post something on my own blog the site had changed almost beyond recognition. It was so much more complicated. Something has happened with the site, not with all these different devices. I also notice that there are fewer comments on the blogs I look at, but because blogs (including my own) are often re-posted on a site like Facebook people now tend to comment on Facebook instead, so the problem could well be wider than just my problem.

Hi @juliebond, usually we use those troubleshooting steps to try to narrow down where the problem might be.
If it’s not the browser or device, and not WordPress.com, it could be those sites, or it could be something in the account. Let’s try this.
I just made a test post here:
Would you mind making a test comment there? It can be anything, but something similar to what you tried to post on the other blog would be helpful. For example, if you were using emojis or html in your comment, please be sure to do the same thing on the test site.
Let us know what you find. Also, let us know if you’d be okay with us making a test comment on that site through your account so we can see what you see.

Yes, this worked fine on the test post. The comment went up and is ‘awaiting moderation’.
