I can't put link in the text of a blog post

    This has worked fine for me in the past (although I last posted in July 2015), but when I click the Insert/edit chain link and paste the link, the text remains identical to everything else, or the link leads nowhere. Someone wrote the code for me so I could paste it in the box, but that doesn’t work either. I also used to be able to use URLs that began with www. , even though I read recently that they must start with http:// . I don’t want to delete my blog and start a new one, and everything else seems to be fine. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Using click here is the worst possible choice of anchor text. Use either the title or the most relevant keyword or keyword phrase as anchor text when creating links in posts and pages.

    First, make sure you are running one of the browser versions found here > http://browsehappy.com or upgrade to one of them.

    Then see the guide for creating links in posts and pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

    This is the general link model:
    <a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>

    1. Enter the relevant descriptive anchor text you want to link to first. Note that “here” is not a good choice. Use relevant anchor text to link to.
    2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
    3. Next, click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link.

    If you are not successful please provide this specific info:
    (a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
    (b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
    (c) Exactly what you experience including exactly what any error reports you receive state.
    (d) Screenshots can be helpful. You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide for screenshots http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.
