I cant recover my account?
-
Good people of WordPress,
I created this page to capture all the fun of building a house with my wife. https://buildingbrandy.wordpress.com/ (it should be noted I am currently logged in on another account so I can post this questions)
However, no I cant recall which email i used for the account. I attempted to reset password, but that came up short as I dont have the correct email. I attempted to recover account, and am without any of the key’s they require for recovery. I am so sad as I dont know what to do next.
Can anyone help me? I really want to update this site with new upgrades our family have made to our house.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi riskreview –
You can fill out the Account Recovery Form with the details you do have. Here is some information on the Account Recovery Form:

Hello there,
I have tagged this thread with “modlook”. This tag will notify staff of your request and they will be able to help you with account recovery. As a volunteer on this forum, we don’t have direct access to this information and aren’t able to help. Staff will be sure to help you at their earliest convenience.
Hope you are able to resolve this, sounds like a really interesting blog :) Hope the home building is going well!

Thanks for your reply, magnoliaoak!
Per the account recovery, I havent been able to complete this because I dont have transaction ID, an activation URL or key or two factor authentication codes. I cant recall receiving these, and if I did I cant recall which email address they would be in to access them.
amandasjackson, I appreciate you adding the tag to request staff support.
Fingers crossed that there is a solution!!!
Best,
Brian -
Hi Brian,
I believe staff will send an email to the account that your site is associated with. This will hopefully help you start the process of recovery :)

amandasjackson,
I hope so. I have entered every email I could have possibly used, but haven’t received anything in those inboxes. I manage so many email accounts that I worry it is one that I no longer have access to. It would be helpful if WordPress staff were able to tell me which email address the recovery emails are going to. Then, if it is one that I used for work, but no longer have access too, I could contact the user and have them forward it to me.
Patiently waiting ;-)

Hi Brian,
Can you please try resetting the password using the username for the account rather than an email address? The username is buildingbrandy
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
That will send a password reset email to the correct email address (which I can’t tell you :) )
In the case of Gmail addresses, please make sure you check the Social and Updates folders in the inbox, as our emails often get routed there. And in all cases also please check Spam to make sure the email hasn’t gone there.

Thanks for your reply, Kokkieh.
I have tried that, although because of the number of email accounts I managed over the past 5 years, ones that I no longer have access too, I cant seem to place which email account it was.
Are there any possible next steps? I am so sad if not.

I checked the logs and we did send out a reset email to the email address in question about an hour ago. But the email bounced back with an error that the email address doesn’t exist. So it appears like you may have deleted the address.
If that’s the case then there’s nothing more we can do here. We cannot give you access to an account under any circumstances unless you can verify your ownership.

Kokkieh,
Thanks for your reply. Good to know the email is no longer active…I think it was the one we used for our local climbers group. How can I update with a new email?
Or, is there a way to copy the entire site to a new site?

The only way to update the email would be by logging into the account. We can update it from our end as well, but only if you were able to verify ownership via the account recovery form.
Same for exporting the content – you need to be logged in as an admin to do that, and we cannot provide you with an export file unless you’ve verified ownership of the site.
