I can't remove or edit widgets, nor can I open screen options

I can’t remove or edit widgets, nor can I open screen options to enter accessibility options using the web-based wordpress.com, can anyone help please?
I’ve got two blogs, both same theme but the oldest blog is the one with problems as the newest blog is fully operational.
Even the following isn’t working:
Instructions to enable Accessibility Mode Via KeyboardFor those using screen readers and keyboard navigation, these instructions should help you enable Accessibility mode:
– In your Dashboard, navigate to the Appearance tab, and then select Widgets.
– Press ‘L’ to skip from list to list till you find ‘HELP’. Alternatively, press ‘landmark’ command once to get to ‘NAVIGATION MENU’.
– Arrow down you will hear ‘screen option – collapsed’
– Press ‘ENTER’ to open drop down menu.
– “Enable accessibility mode” is the only option available. Select that and you will have keyboard options for many of the widgets. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Sean,
That’s very odd – several elements on your site appear to be working incorrectly. Did these elements stop working after a certain edit you made to your site or have they not been working the entire time?
I’m looking into finding a fix for you!
-
I don’t know really, I’ve been inactive for a while and since I’ve been blogging again it seems to have broken. I can’t add tags now either.
Thanks

Hi Sean,
This should be fixed now. Can you give it a try on your side and let me know if you still experience an issue?
-
Hi Jeremey
Yep all done thanks!
However, now it’s fixed, when I post a blog, the content appears on the blog but it disappears from the editor.
Could this be a coding error too?
Many thanks

Hi Sean!
I want to make sure I understand correctly. After you publish a blog post to your site and then go back to edit the post, the content does not appear in the Editor. Is that correct? Can you try to replicate this in another browser as well?

-
Hey Sean,
I can’t reproduce the issue in either Chrome or Safari. When I go to edit your posts, all of the content appears in the text box. Can you let me know if this is only happening on a specific post? Alternatively, can you try refreshing the “Edit Post” screen and see if the content loads on the refresh?

How can I edit my widgets to be displayed as they are in the MH Magazine template? I could only put the slider widget in the sidebar and not in the front of the blog as it is on the template…

Hi @Escambo,
As this is unrelated to the topic of this thread, please create another thread for your question. We’ll be happy to help you there!
Just a note, here are some starter resources for MH Magazine:

Hi Jeremey,
Sorry I haven’t replied – been busy.
I’ve tried to replicate in chrome, IE and the android app but the post content vanishes in all of them when I try to edit it.
It is happening to all posts and I find myself copy and pasting from my blog every time I update it. When it’s updated I keep getting appear all over the place.
Hopefully it’s fixable…?
Thanks
-
Hey Sean,
It’s definitely fixable! I’m currently investigating this a bit more. Are you creating the posts elsewhere and pasting them into your site?
-
Hey Sean,
I believe the issue is with the special characters in those posts. Currently, your posts without the ? characters are opening correctly. Can you try marking the posts as drafts? There are some other issues popping up on your site and I would like to see if those are resolved by marking the posts with special characters as drafts. For example, the Customizer under Appearance -> Customize isn’t loading on your site.
When you set the posts to drafts, can you try to load the customizer and see if it gets stuck trying to load or it actually loads? I’m happy to investigate as well. I just didn’t want to change your posts to drafts without warning you.
-
I see what you mean, I’ve set them as drafts – only one wasn’t affected.
I tried the customiser and it’s not working still, it gets stuck trying to load.
I’ve saved an export of the site so feel free to change the site coding etc as you need to.
Thanks

Could you please describe step by step what you are doing up until you encounter the issue?
If possible, also send me a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.
