I can’t see my stats

It’s been one day since I posted a blog and my stats show only 4 views. And I’m 100% sure I have more than that.

  • Hi, can you let us know what metric you are comparing that to? We can take a look.

I don’t know what you mean by that. But on the wordpress app, there’s an option where they show the stats and when you select it, on the insights it’s shows how many views, visitors, likes and comments the latest post has. So it’s been two days and it’s shows only five people have read it.

  • Hi there,

Are you speaking of the site, https://itsnidhipatel.wordpress.com/?

The views you see for your most recent post in the app is correct. You can see the same number of views in stats in the browser at https://wordpress.com/stats/insights/itsnidhipatel.wordpress.com, and also on the post itself at https://wordpress.com/posts/itsnidhipatel.wordpress.com

A view in stats is only recorded if someone actually loads that post in an active tab in their browser, or if they click on that post to view the full post in the WordPress.com Reader. If people subscribe to your site via email, it won’t be counted as a view if they read your post in their email itself, and if someone follows your site using their own RSS feed reader, those won’t count as views either.

It is also possible for people to block us from logging if they view your site by using browser add-ons. If someone blocks us in this way, there’s no way that we can record those views.

I honestly dont think that anything you mentioned above is applicable to my post because:
    1) I have had conversations with more than 10 people regarding my post and it is showing five views only, that doesn’t make sense. And most of the people I had conversations with are not on my email list
    2) and if someone has blocked you from viewing the site, not all ten of them have done it, maybe one or two, so what happened to the other 8?
    3) i literally send out links to all my friends so that they just have to click on it and read, like i have been doing since i started blogging, so what went wrong this time? I can’t fall from having more than 50 views per post to five.
You guys really need to solve this. I dont know how you will do it. But just be practical and try and understand what I am saying. There is nothing I have done different from my previous posts and I haven’t even changed any of the settings.

  • A few important points on this:

If a person read your post in the WordPress.com Reader or a subscription email, we cannot track that as a visit to your site, since they did not visit your site.

If a person visits your site, we will record it, unless an ad or tracker blocker prevented our tracker from running. Since these blockers are becoming more prolific, and in some cases built directly into popular browsers, this is general the reason for situations where 10 friends say they read a post, but only 5 are recorded.
