I can't see my widgets

  Hi, I purchased the Hive theme on wordpress. I want my front page (with posts) to feature widgets (archives, recent posts, etc) on a sidebar. I’ve made the widgets “visible” and assigned them to what I think is the correct location. Still, nothing shows up. Please advise. Thanks, Roy

  Hi there,

  Please note that you don’t have a static Front Page because you set your Front page to a Posts Page.

  What you can do is create a static Front page by going to Pages > Add new in your Dashboard. Once that is created, you can set it as your Front page by going to Settings > Reading in your Dashboard. Where it says, Front page displays, select A static page, and from the dropdown, choose the page that you just created. Remember to select a posts page (or create one) so that all your posts will show up there.

  If you want to create a menu for these pages, you can do so by creating a Custom Menu. Take a look at the link for more information.

  Thanks so much for your response. However, what if I want to make make my front page the page with widgets and posts? In other words, can only a static Front page include widgets?

  What you can do is set the Visibility to show on the Posts Page like this:

  I want the post page to be the front page. Is there any way to do that?

  Again, apologies if I’m not being clear. I created a static front page. Then I went into settings, per your instructions, and selected the page I created.

  Now my front page is an “About” page, rather than a page with posts, and widgets.

  I’ll continue tinkering, but any more guidance would be helpful. Thanks so much!

  Sorry about the confusion. I found that the Hive theme was an exception. The Hive theme only supports widgets on the single post view and on static pages as seen on their support page here:

  https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/hive/

  So if you want those widgets on your Front page, you will have to make sure the front page is static.

  If you want to set your Front page as your posts page like before, you wouldn’t be able to have widgets on that page.
