I can't seem post content in my menu fields

I cant seem to post content in my top menu bar
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m seeing pages in your menu, so it’s possible you’ve worked this out on your own.
If you’d like to customize what appears where, you can do that with a custom menu. Here’s more information on how that works.
If you have any questions, or need help getting your menus set up let me know!

Setting up the menus was fine, where I’m 100% stuck is how to add content to them.
I also can’t find a place to add the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram buttons.
Finally, do you know if mailchip operates with this site on the event I wanted to build a distribution list?

I see the problem. You’ve added category pages to your menu. The way those work is the content for the pages is pulled from posts using that category. You can read more about how that works here
Category PagesYour pages (except for http://thebrief3.com/category/about-the-brief/) are empty right now because you haven’t published any posts in the other categories. Does that make sense?
I also can’t find a place to add the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram buttons.
In order to make these work, first you need to create a menu of social links. Here’s a walk through on how to do that:

We don’t have any official MailChimp integration, but when you can create a custom widget to connect to your MailChimp sign up form. Here’s a general explanation of how that works:

When/if you decide to do this let me know and I can give you more specific instructions.

Fixing the menu issue really didn’t answer my question. I just want to now how to set up the top bar menu correctly and be able to edit content to each section when needed.
-
Also – I have a premium account and I’m getting really frustrated that the window for online chatting support isn’t coming up. I need this site up and running for a major launch and it’s not user friendly, you can’t talk to a live rep, the response time for asking questions is SLOW and unfortunately for me my client wants to use wordpress.

The live chat window will show up whenever one of our live chat Happiness Engineers are available. If you leave your site administration pages open, you should see it fairly frequently, but as you say, not all the time. We do have guaranteed live chat availability during standard business hours for WordPress.com Business subscribers.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you mean by “top bar menu.” I was assuming you were referring to this menu:
If I’m mistaken, could you take a screenshot of the menu you mean?
Here are the instructions for taking a screenshot if you need them:

That is exactly the menu I’m having problems with. I want daily posts to show up in the You’ve just been briefed section – which would typically be home. However, I can’t go in and edit the other menu sections with the content I want to add there.
I’ve made a screenahot to show you but there is no attach button.

Thanks for providing more information. Let’s try this another way.
The first step is to create standard pages for your content rather than category pages. You can do that from here:
https://thebrief3.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
Just click the “Add New” Button, give each page a title and add your content.
Once you have the static pages you can replace the categories you’ve added to your menu with the standard pages from here:
https://thebrief3.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php
You won’t be able to add the pages to the menu until after you create the pages, so be sure to add the pages first.
The way you have the site set up now, your posts will appear on your front page automatically.
One you have the other pages created, the site should start to look the way you want. Then if you have additional questions I’m happy to help.

Glad to hear you are making progress. I’ll be happy to help you with the MailChimp question when you are ready.

Thanks for your help with the menu pages. Before I move onto MailChimp (which will be Monday) can you tell me how I can get the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram icons on the main page? I don’t want them as drop down menus like the videos showed, I want viewers to be able just click on the icon at the end of the page.
Thanks for your help.

The way to add social media icons to your page is to create a menu with links to your social media profiles and then assign it to the social links menu location.
First, create the menu from the link below:
https://thebrief3.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php
Click “Create new Menu,” give the menu a name like Social Media.
then using the “Links” option in the left column add a link to your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram profiles. Save the new menu.
Next at the top of the page, click manage locations and assign the new menu to the social links menu location. Once you save all your changes, the links will appear at the bottom like they do in the demo.
Here’s a step by step walk-through of how it works.
Let me know if you have any questions about that!

I’m ready for instructions on how to intergrate mailchip now. I’ve set up my account not too long ago.
Thanks,

Wonderful. The first step is to get your your signup forms up and going on the MailChimp side. Here are their instructions for that.
http://kb.mailchimp.com/lists/signup-forms/create-signup-forms-and-response-emails
Note: It’s not possible to embed signup forms from MailChimp on WordPress.com, but since MailChimp offers hosted signup forms this isn’t a problem. Once you get your forms up and going, we’ll just create a link (either as text, or an image) on your WordPress.com site to connect to it.
My ability to help with the MailChimp side of things is limited as I don’t have access to your account there, but I have done this before so if you have questions, I’ll do my best to answer them.
MailChimp also has support options that are explained here:

Ok, We’ll break it down into smaller steps.
Let’s start with your MailChimp setup.
You said you registered an account. Have you set up your first list yet?
Let me know where you got stuck and I’ll help you walk through it.
-
I believe I set up my first list. What I’m trying to do is when viewers go to the main page of TheBrief they get a pop-up to signup for triweekly publications. They will also have the option to click off that pop-up. Is that do-able?

A popup is not do-able on WordPress.com. The only way to connect to MailChimp on WordPress.com is through a static link to your MailChimp signup form. Here’s more on how that works from the MailChimp end:
Here’s a walk through on how a user created a faux signup form in the sidebar of their site:
