I can’t seem to get rid of the ‘Private:’ text that is making my home page look very ugly.

    Hi,

    I just want to know how to get remove the text that says ‘Private:’. What’s more annoying is that I cannot move my block directly beneath my large hero/header. There always has to be some space for ‘Add title’.

    I don’t want to add a title, I just want my block of about me directly beneath my hero. It gives me no option to remove the ‘Add title’, which if I could remove it, I would get rid of that unnecessary space.

    Please help, I also can’t seem to attach an image to this post which would have helped but yeah.

    Hi there,

    That text is appearing because you’ve published that page as a private page. That means that page is only visible to you as an admin, and anyone else trying to view that page will see an error instead. Private pages also don’t behave the same way regular pages do – you can’t set a private page as your homepage or add it to the menu, for example.

    Edit the page, and under Status and Visibility in the editor settings, change the status from Private to Published. Your site isn’t launched yet, so at the moment only you can see it, which means there’s no reason to publish individual posts or pages as private as well.

    Hey,

    Thanks for replying. Making it public has removed the text ‘Private’ but there is still a large amount of space between my header and the content of my website. There is always a transparent ‘Add title’ at the top of the page. I don’t want to add a title here.

    If you have any ideas please let me know, but thank you so much anyway!

    Hi there,

    In this case the spacing you see is something that is built into the theme itself and cannot easily be changed.

    You can see here the demo site offers the same spacing you see on your site as well: https://quadratwhitedemo.wordpress.com/

    It is possible to use custom CSS code to tweak that spacing, which is an option if you upgrade to our Premium Plan (or higher) but for free sites this is not an option. Since you are just getting started out with setting up you site I’d recommend switching to a different theme instead, one without so much space in the header.

    Here are a few options that you may want to consider that offer less space between the header and the content:
