I can't select 'map domain' for $17 CAD

  I am trying to map the domain for $17 CAD, I don’t need the $10.75/monthly hosting on wordpress.com, I don’t care about having ads on the site, I am not at the point where I’m having so many users that those things will matter

  I was able to do this last time with my other blog but now every time I go to add my own domain (verge.news) I can’t add it it without the system defaulting to $10.75 month x 12.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  WordPress.com no longer offer stand-alone domain mapping upgrade. You need to upgrade to one of the paid plans. See https://wordpress.com/plans

  Whaaaaaaaaat -_- Never mind then, I’ll find another place, $120 up front is way too much $

  You can go for the personal plan which is $2.99 per month i.e. $35.88 per year.

  It would be Canadian $ 3.85 per month. I was seeing USD $ on my screen.

  Yes but I already own my own domain name and to map it says I need to buy the $10.75 one, it wont let me pick the $3.85 one

  You are trying to add the domain first and the system by default redirects you to the Premium plan (CAD $10.75). There is a workaround for this.

  First, go to https://wordpress.com/plans and upgrade to the Personal plan (CAD $3.85). Once you are done with upgrading your plan, go to https://wordpress.com/domain to map your domain.
