i can't sign in!

i am so frustrated! this is the second time this has happened. i apparently signed up for a blog or site in december, and then i created a real site in january and february. when i would try and login to my real site, http://www.sareandalourdes.com, it would say i didn’t have the right password…i would try all kinds of configuration that could have remotely been registered by the site, including the actual username and password i wrote down. the thing shook its head! so i’d make a new password with the email associated with the account and when i did so and logged in i’d be in the old blog, and not the new website. so i went in and deleted the old blog, to no avail. tried resetting password again to get into real site and it directed me to the blog with nothing even there! arg! thanks for your help. love, sareanda

  • Hello there!

It appears that your website sareandalourdes.com is a self-hosted site powered by WordPress.ORG.
WordPress.org is different from WordPress.com, so that might be the reason why you couldn’t access the sareandalourdes.com by using your WordPress.com login details (of the website you deleted).

What you may want to try now is to recover the password of your WordPress.org website. Here’s a guide that explains how to do it: http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

If you’ve got any questions about that, though, you need to post that in the WordPress.org forum, as this is the forum for the WordPress.com websites, and we might not be able to provide the correct assistance for your issue.

I hope everything is clear and this information is useful for you!

thank you so much, StefaniaMattana! this makes so much sense and it didn’t work.
i can sign into wordpress.com even though i thought i deleted that account, but when i go to wordpress.org and say i lost my password and try to change it, it says there’s no account associated with my email adddress…either email address. and wordpress.org won’t let me into the questions forum without logging in.
my site exists and is pretty darn finished but there are a few little gliches that definitely need fixing. i so need help and i don’t know where to turn. thanks for any support you can offer. love, sareanda

  • No worries, @1cat1!

I’m sorry you’re still having troubles with your login details!

Have you tried to put your ID on your the password recovery form, rather than your email address? For instance, my email is xxxx@xxx but my ID is stefaniamattana. If you try to enter your ID that might be another good attempt ;)

Your WordPress.org account is not related with the account you use/create for the forum. So you may also think of getting a new account to post your query over there. Since it still looks a pure WordPress.org issue, the folks at that forum would be 100 times more useful than me :)

Hope you’ll get that sorted very soon! Meanwhile, if there’s anything else I can help you out with, do let me know. Cheers!

thank you! i have tried that.
i will set up a new account at .org for forum purposes.
i’m nervous, though…other’s have posted similar problems and said they’ve had to abandon all their work because they could never sign in again. can that be possible?
is it just a lock-out security issue because i’ve tried logging in so many times?
is it a plugin i installed?
thank you for any and all thinking you can provide. so good to not feel alone in this.

  • As far as I know, there is no plugin that should be able to affect the login access to your website.

There is surely a way to access your website, maybe by entering it from phpMyAdmin. You may also want to try this article I’ve just found: http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-reset-a-wordpress-password-from-phpmyadmin/. However, I’ve never tried that so I don’t know if it’s going to work.

I’m confident you will eventually make it, the people at the .org forum are amazing ;)
