I can't start a new blog
-
Every time I try to start a new blog I see a page that says ‘Almost Done – Adding your domain’, then nothing happens. I’ve tried repeatedly to set up a blog but no luck. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi there,
This issue is commonly caused due to a slow connection or an outdated browser.
Could you try creating a blog using another browser?
-
-
Nope, the problem isn’t at my end. I’ve installed a new browser and I still can’t start a new blog. I’m left hanging on the “almost done” page.

What is the URL you are entering? Are you using this guide?

Or are you trying to register a domain, which must, of course be mapped to from an underlying .wordpress.com blog.
All that changes when you are domain mapping is the URL and nothing else. The content stays exactly where it is. What domain mapping does its create a seamless transfer between the underlying .wordpress.com blog URLs to the domain URLs no matter where they are on the internet. Visitors who click the underlying .wordpress.com blog URLs will be seamlessly redirected to the exact same content under the domain URLs.
Please read Domains: Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from, and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
See here if you do not own a domain
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
if you already have a website you don’t want to affect, and you want to add a blog to it under a subdomain (for example, blog.yourgroovydomain.com) see here http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/
Your payment methods are here https://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/
Your upgrade history will be here Dashboard > Store> My Upgrades
https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

I’m not domain mapping.
Wordpress says the url I am requesting is available but it can’t seem to create it. -
-
Do be aware that you cannot register any deleted wordpress.COM blog URL. https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
-
Okay we’ve managed to register the url. I tried repeatedly through the normal channel of clicking create site and following the prompts. No joy. Instead we just typed the url into the browser and when we got a “does not exist” message, we clicked register url and it worked straight away.

I’m having the exact same problem and I cannot get it to work.
I have tried on several connections (home broadband and several two separate providers running 4G LTE) and several browsers Mac, Macbook Pro, iPhone and Blackberry and still it says on every one of them “Almost Done – Adding your Domain”.
How do I get around this – i’m trying to setup for my first time.

P.S. I’m trying to “choose a custom domain” at $18.00 which it says is available but it won’t load, it just hangs at the “Almost Done – Adding your Domain” like previously said, although i’ve just noticed if i take the “-” out of the domain name it seems to work. But I need the domain name to have “-” between the words. It says it’s available so why doesn’t it work – I can register the domain with someone else with the hyphen so why not with wordpress?
