I can't upgrade!

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a free plan here, and I want to upgrade to Business. I go to Manage Purchases, press the Upgrade button, then select my site, which brings me to wordpress.com/plans/<the-site-I-am-talking-about-here.com>. The available plans are listed in three columns. But for the life of me, I can not find where to click in order to select a plan and proceed. (BTW, my site is working fine in the context of the free plan. But I need Business level in order to install a plugin.) Help!

    Hi @pianowithkent,

The site wordpress.com/plans/<your-site.com> shows three columns with the different upgrade options. Just below the brief description of each upgrade option, there should be a box that reads “Upgrade”. If you click on that box, you’ll be redirected to the payment screen, and you should be all set!

    Best,

    David

Thanks so much for your reply David. No such box. I’ve tried coming at that page a few different ways (site navigation paths, page refreshes, logout-login again, etc., same thing every time. I’m using the Google Chrome browser. Maybe I will see what happens with MS Edge.

By the way, does this site have any live support number or live chat support?
    Thanks.

    Hi @pianowithkent,

The livechat support feature is enabled with any of the paid plans. Check them out here: https://wordpress.com/plans

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi there,

I can see that you have successfully upgraded to the Business plan.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Hi @fstat, yes, thank you, all is well now. Woo hoo!

Kateryna K. of your support staff was very helpful, and was communicating with me by email in the wee hours of the morning (my time zone anyway) to help me with this issue. She got it all straightened out. Much appreciated, Kateryna!

Glad to hear this is all sorted now and thanks for letting us know. I’ll pass on your thanks to Kateryna :)

    Thanks!

Update — this is not fully resolved. Please check my most recent email to
    help@wordpress.com

Here is the message I sent:
Hey I’m sorry but I have a another question here. Please compare the results of the following URL’s

https://wordpress.com/view/pianowithkent.com (I realize I gotta be logged in to see this, and I don’t know if you have backdoor access.)

    and

    https://pianowithkent.com

When I update or post to pianowithkent.com via the WP.com interface, and then press Save/Publish, I never see these changes going to the live site.

The latter link, the live public view, is always the older stuff, and remains static. Even after 24+ hours. I tried clearing my cache, and also using a different browser.

By the way, I need this resolved ASAP, as my site visitors are no longer able to access my embedded videos. This is because Vimeo, my video host, will no longer recognize “pianowithkent.com” — the site I previously specified for exclusive Vimeo embedding. As a work-around, I had to tell Vimeo that ANY site can now imbed my vids. As a result of that work-around, the pianowithkent.com I’m editing on WP.com can display the vids. But the live site can not.

I think there must be something wrong with the new mapping.

I really would like to talk directly to by phone or at least by chat.

    Hi @pianowithkent,

Since you have purchased the business plan, live chat support is available to you 24/5 – https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/

You’ll be able to chat with someone through here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

Since you may not be able to get to someone at this time, I’ve tagged this post for staff with the modlook tag.

    Best,

    David

I am going to close this forum thread in favour of your open email ticket. Using different methods to contact us and submitting multiple tickets when you already have one open makes it harder for us to help you and can lead to it taking longer to get a reply.
